Applications for the Mark & Dorothy Danzker Scholarship for Excellence are now open.
Presented with the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, this scholarship is awarded to eight individuals who are actively involved in preserving ethno-cultural heritage through volunteerism and/or employment.

Magdaragat Philippines Inc. will be celebrating their 50th anniversary on May 16, 2026. Created in 1976 by Dante C. Buenaventura, Magdaragat Philippines is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Philippine culture throughout Winnipeg and Manitoba, primarily through dance.

| | Nowruz marks Persian New Year | |
Nowruz Mubarak! Celebrating the arrival of spring and the Persian New Year, Nowruz is a time of renewal, hope, and fresh beginnings. It marks the spring equinox and the triumph of light over darkness.
This year, Nowruz will be on March 20.
| | Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan | |
Eid al-Fitr is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the ninth and holiest month of the Islamic calendar. It begins with a special morning prayer where members of the Muslim community gather at a mosque or community centre, greet one another, and exchange the phrase “Eid Mubarak,” meaning “happy Eid.” After prayers, families often share a large breakfast together before spending the rest of the day visiting relatives and friends from house to house.
This year, Eid al-Fitr will be on March 20.

Latin Sunday hosted by Friends of the Cuban Arts Inc. and Habanero Sombrero
Latin Sunday is a family-friendly Latin dance night open to all ages. Hosted by Friends of the Cuban Arts Inc. and Habanero Sombrero, the event was created to offer a welcoming and safe space for the Latin American community to celebrate and share their culture. Their purpose is to keep culture alive within the new and younger generations and create meaningful connections through music, dance, and community.

Ukrainian Kalach Bread Baking Workshop
We invite you to spend a few warm hours together and bake a real homemade kalach — from start to finish. We will mix the dough, learn how to feel when it’s ready, braid a beautiful loaf, and place it in the oven together. This workshop will show and explain everything in simple, clear steps so you feel confident and succeed.
You will go home with your own golden kalach and the confidence to bake it again on your own!

Manitoba Hydro and Support for Folklorama’s Northern Initiative
In spring 2025, Folklorama’s Ethno-Cultural Arts team coordinated Indigenous programming for the community of Pinaymootang First Nation in Fairford, Manitoba, on three separate occasions. This was the second year in a row that Folklorama had been asked to visit the community and share ethno-cultural programming. Most of the participants were residents and patients of the Pinaymootang Health Center.
Folklorama’s Northern Initiative is presented by Manitoba Hydro, whose Indigenous Relations Department are thrilled to be supporting this program. “We value the chance to support events that bring people together and reflect the cultures that shape Manitoba..."
