#MontcoServes Campaign Underway

Since our launch of #MontcoServes in
December, several Montgomery County schools have taken part in the campaign. Community service projects have been provided by this community sponsored program.

Keeping restrictions in mind, some schools have chosen individually bagged projects for each student to participate from their desk or from home. This has allowed groups, clubs, honor societies, etc to take part in the campaign.

Grants Available

Spring into Service
Take-Home Service Kits

Spring break is just around the corner for many school districts. This is a great time to think about community service projects with the kids:

  • Take a walk. Clean up trash along the way.
  • Create cards for the elderly community.
  • Send pizza to the local police/fire department.
  • Use chalk to write inspiring messages on the sidewalk.
  • Help a neighbor with yard clean up.
  • Kitchen table service projects are a perfect teaching opportunity while keeping the kids busy. Keep our various project ideas in mind. We can create a Take-Home-Service Kit customized to a theme of your choice.
National Cereal Day
March 7, 2021

This popular breakfast food has probably been a part of your life since childhood. And most likely can be found in your cabinet today.

One of our beloved projects here at The Giving Tree is a Peace & Smiles Box. Which by the way.. starts out with an empty cereal box! Filled with craft supplies, decorated and delivered to pediatric patients in the tri-state area. We have delivered over 10,000 boxes to date!!

So pour yourself a bowl of your favorite cereal.... And don't forget to hang on to those empty boxes! We appreciate all donations of empty cereal boxes for our projects!
National Crayon Day
March 31, 2021

A day to celebrate & explore your creative side! Did you know??

  • The Crayola brand of crayons produces about 3 billion crayons each year.
  • Crayons have one of the most recognizable scents
  • A poll of 25,000 consumers revealed America's favorite color... is blue!
  • The first box of crayons was sold in 1903 & included only 8 colors.

For a fun project, check out this article for ideas on melting down those broken crayons.

Crayons are a big part of several of our projects here at The Giving Tree, benefiting kids in crisis. As a way to celebrate, consider donating crayons to those in need. Check out our Amazon Wish List below.
