Hello coalition members and CAHL fans!
I am loving this sometimes-warm weather in Wisconsin! When I met my husband in 2009 he never stopped talking about getting a cottage. His dream was to have a cottage on Lake Poygan and spend all summer long there. When I filled our cupboards with new dish-ware after our wedding, he even saved all of his bachelor dishes for "the cottage". He had a whole storage area in our basement of items for this "cottage" that I never thought we would get. But here I am, recovering from Memorial Day weekend at our cottage on Lake Poygan with my wonderful group of friends. Just look at how many kids we had on our pontoon boat at one point. It was way too much fun to see them play together catching frogs, snakes, turtles, and fish, squirting each other with squirt guns and spending time outside. I see lifelong friendships being made and I am so thankful that my husband’s dream became our reality. If you are ever in the Fremont area, reach out! We try to get to the cottage every weekend!
CAHL also does a lot of fun work in the summer. Tobacco compliance checks are in full swing and we we've been doing a lot of connecting with our tobacco retailers. We also work on the retail assessment project where we gather data on types of tobacco, alcohol, and nutrition products sold at local retailers. We're always looking for volunteers to help with both of these projects, so please reach out if you're interested in discovering more about the local environment!
Please help me welcome two new staff members to CAHL! Emma Kane and Annie von Neupert have joined us since the last newsletter update – their introduction are below! We also want to congratulate Maggie Van Heuklon on her recent graduation. Maggie was our amazing intern for the spring semester and we already miss her dearly! She is on her way to AmeriCorp in Mississippi – Congratulations, Maggie!
Please take a minute to browse our newsletter, packed with great information, and please be sure to take the survey below!
Keep cool this summer!
