Ice storm cleanup
Town crews continue to clear roads and public spaces following the storm. This has been a unique situation, and everyone’s patience is appreciated.
Reception Centre
- The Pefferlaw Lion’s Hall is operating as a reception centre from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Showers are available at the Multi-Use Recreation Complex and Georgina Leisure Pool.
Waste and recycling collection
- GFL collection is operating as usual, however in areas where there are active road closures for wires/limbs/trees down – service disruption will occur and collection will be reinstated next week. Note, if you bring your waste and recycling in for the night, remember to put it back out the next day before 7 a.m. For missed collections, contact the Town's waste collection contractor, GFL at 1-866-421-5625 or by email at WasteLine@gflenv.com.
Tree debris
- Residents can drop off tree debris at the Pefferlaw Lion’s Hall on Pete’s Lane in the north parking lot. Only tree debris will be accepted at this location and it is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. It will also be open Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Alternatively, residents can drop debris off at the Georgina Transfer Station, Household Hazardous Waste and Recycling Depot.
Yard waste
- For residents who are unable to transport their debris, GFL will begin yard waste collection early starting April 7, 2025, for the entire month of April. Residents are reminded the usual collection rules apply. All brush must be bundled, no longer than four feet in length, and weigh no more than 22 kg.

Safe Streets Monitoring
Shelly is reminding drivers to slow down. The Safe Streets Monitoring Program will use Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras with the goal of encouraging posted speed limit compliance and increasing overall safety for the community. Five cameras have been installed – one in each ward – in Community Safety Zones. The cameras will become operational beginning April 10. 2025 Nature's Emporium Run for Southlake
Spring into action for a good cause by joining or supporting the Town of Georgina team for the 2025 Nature's Emporium Run for Southlake on April 27, at 8 a.m. Help Georgina achieve the Community Spirit Award, which is given to the community with the most participants in the event based on the percentage of the population. Run, walk or donate to help Southlake Regional Health Centre raise funds for urgently needed tools and equipment. Join the team today.

Curbside Giveaway Days
Clear out the clutter in your home. Curbside Giveaway Days begin April 26 and runs monthly until October. Put unwanted items at the curb from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other residents/neighbours can then take these items free of charge. Any unclaimed items must be removed by 5 p.m. and can only be put to the curb on the selected dates. To learn more, visit georgina.ca/events.

Pitch-In week
April 14 to 20 is Pitch-In Week. Residents can participate by helping to clean up areas in the community as individuals, families or groups. The Town provides gloves and bags which can be picked up at the Civic Centre. Contact Service Georgina at 905-476-4301, ext. 3001 or info@georgina.ca once waste is collected so staff can dispose of it appropriately.

Street sweeping
Weather permitting, the street sweeping program will begin in mid-April. Street sweeping occurs weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents are asked to avoid parking on Town streets during this time to allow sweepers to clean the roadway. To learn more, visit georgina.ca/StreetSweeping.

The Town is also seeking refreshment/food vehicles, carts and vendors for summer 2025. Submit your proposal to be a vendor at De La Salle Park and Willow Beach. The Town is seeking vendors for Georgina's annual Swap and Sell event at the Georgina Ice Palace on Saturday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It's the perfect opportunity to sell your new or gently used wares while connecting with the community. Rise to Rebellion
Rise to Rebellion returns to Georgina Pioneer Village this spring on May 8 and May 9. This interactive re-creation of the 1837 Rebellion of Upper Canada is the perfect opportunity for Grade 7 and Grade 8 students to engage with Canadian history. Rec Pass
Get the most for your recreation dollars by purchasing a Georgina Rec Pass for yourself and/or your household. Passes can be purchased online or in person at a Town facility. The Rec Pass provides unlimited access to a variety of programs including fitness drop-in programs and walking/running track, swimming drop-in programs, open gym sessions and skating drop-in programs. Online parking pass
Residents and property owners can apply to get their resident parking pass instantly using the Town’s online portal at parking.georgina.ca. The process is easy and residents can get up to four passes per household. Parking passes must be displayed on the dashboard while parked in areas where required by signage.
