Car exposed to pollen just as your skin is
Pollen/Allergy season causes irritated eyes and respiratory passages, we know. But many Rosacea patients are surprised to learn that pollen is a huge skin irritant too and can often cause Rosacea flares (more redness then usual).
If you have Rosacea your skin will be irritated this season, count on it. Here are my recommendations for calming and soothing irritated Rosacea:
1. Wash your face often during pollen season especially if you are outdoors. (Just look at your car!) One of my best recommendations is Costco's Kirkland brand make-up remover wipes. Carry them with you and use them often to remove pollen from your skin. After using the wipe, apply a zinc based sunscreen.
Kirkland wipes are terrific for removing make-up and eye make-up too. They should never be used in place of washing your face but rather as a first step in your PM face cleansing routine. Wash with a facial cleanser after and you will get a better wash. Your expensive night skin care products will be better absorbed, giving you the skin you deserve.
P.S. - Your PM Skin care can be done just after dinner! And you will probably do a better job then just before bedtime.
2. No abrasives - especially no Clarisonics (Electric Facial Brush) for you - you'll break capillaries.
3. Be gentle with your skin - I recommend using a baby wash cloth.
4. Use gentle cleansers without alcohol, or detergents. Image Vital C Cleanser is a good choice. No bars of soap for you. They are alkaline and will dry your skin out
5. Sun Screen is CRITICAL 365 days a year but especially to Rosacea skin during pollen season. Image Hydrating Sunscreen and MD Solar Sciences Sunscreen are best choices.
6. Use a moisturizer for Rosacea which will reduce the redness and hydrate your skin:
10% OFF the Following
- Image Vital C Cleanser and Ormedic Cleanser
- A combination of Image Biopeptide Cream and Ormedic Anti Oxidant Serum.
- Image ACE Antioxidant Serum
- Image Iluma Brightening Serum

These products are economical and work like horses to hydrate your skin and keep the redness at bay.
