NEWS & UPDATES

The Show Must Go On!

No one embodied the sentiment of "the show must go on" more than former ImageOut Programming Director Michael Gamilla, who led the charge to program our past two film festivals while battling serious illness. To this end, we honor his memory, legacy and wishes by deciding to continue on with a slightly abridged version of our Spring Film Festival, even as we work through our collective grief. 2023 ImageOut First Cut now runs April 27 - May 2. Please stay tuned for more details!

Our New Website is Here!

Our new and improved ImageOut.org website launched on March 15. The site is modern, accessible, user friendly, and secure. It's packed full of both fun content and helpful information. Whether you're a community member, sponsor, member, or filmmaker, there's something for you to explore at ImageOut.org!

The new site better highlights all of ImageOut's programs, while honoring our history and legacy. It also has an updated giving section, which better explains the many ways community members can give to ImageOut to support LGBTQ+ arts and culture in our greater Rochester community, such as membership, underwriting, planned and legacy giving, and more.

We hope you'll take some time explore the new site, and check back often for much more frequent updates than we were able to do in the past!

Transgender Day of Visibility

ImageOut continues to stand with our local transgender, non-binary and gender expansive community and is happy to sponsor Trans Day of Visibility in Rochester again this year. Be sure to stop out and support these important events from Next Generation Men Of Transition and WAVE Woman Inc.

IN MEMORIAM

Remembering Michael Gamilla

NOTE: With the family’s blessing, we are also organizing a community celebration of life for Michael. Details will be announced very soon.

We want to share this information directly from Michael’s family with all of you. We cannot thank them enough for their kind words or generous gesture. Michael means the world to ImageOut and our Rochester community too.

From the Gamilla Family: "In honor of Michael Gamilla, we will be holding a mass and celebration of life on Saturday, March 25. The mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church at 10am followed by a reception at the Jewish Community Center from 12-4pm.

Instead of the traditional black attire, we ask that you wear something bright, colorful, and fabulous, as that’s how Michael would show up and want to be celebrated. The world was his fashion runway after all.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to ImageOut, which Michael sat on as a Board Member and Programming Director. ImageOut meant the world to him, and we’d love to return the support to the organization that brought him so much joy.

Those interested can contribute to the Fund in honor of Michael’s legacy and in his memory. Checks can be mailed to the ImageOut office at 274 N. Goodman St., Ste. A203 Rochester, NY 14607. They should be made payable to “ImageOut” with “Michael Gamilla Fund” in the memo line. Online donations can also be made via credit, debit or EFT at https://tinyurl.com/ImageOut-TheMichaelGamillaFund"
