League Events, Spring 2026

2026 has been a busy year and it isn't even Spring! With "snowcrete" and sunny days nearing upper 70s, the weather has been tumultuous, but that's not all. There is a new government in Richmond, and challenges to our voting system leading to a referendum on redistricting, to name a few. But our League is on the spot when it comes to informing and educating our members and the public on these issues.

March 21 is our program on Redistricting, and

April 21 is the last day of voting on the referendum.

May 16 is Annual Meeting of LWV-PWFA, Haymarket-Gainesville Library

Between these events we have voter registration at two high schools, board meetings, and a book discussion!

We can count at least 6 new members in the last few months, so Hello to you! You are now in our pool of active members and can help us out in many areas.

Amid all of this activity, we still need volunteers, especially a Treasurer! We will soon be auditing the books, and they will be ready to go for someone who has interest in seeing where our money goes. This is very important for the League, so please consider volunteering. With the new way of collecting dues, the whole membership part has become much more simplified.

Congressional Redistricting

Question: Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia's standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?

Voters will answer "Yes" or "No" to that question.

Glass Walls: Shattering the Six Gender Bias Barriers Still Holding Women Back at Work, Amy Diehl and Leanne M. Dzubinski.

In this revealing new book, Amy Diehl and Leanne Dzubinski shine a new light on gender bias in the workplace, uncovering the barriers that work like glass walls surrounding women. Their findings and analysis present a new, important, and richly detailed guidebook.

Come and bring a friend. We always have good discussions, even if we haven't read all (or any) of the book. In this case, you probably have valuable insights to share.
