Happy International Women's Day

International Women's Day (March 8, 2026) is a celebration of the women's right movement, including gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence against women. During the month of March, we celebrate women's achievements and raise awareness about gender discrimination.

The beginning of International Women's Day can be traced back to the early twentieth century. It emerged from the activities of labour movements in North America and Europe and reflected a growing call for women’s equal participation in society. International Women's Day first took place on March 19, 1911, in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. Other countries began to observe and celebrate this day in the years that followed.

Today, International Women's Day is a day of unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy, and action and is celebrated in many countries worldwide.

Looking Ahead...

On March 17, 2026, we celebrate St. Patrick's Day! ☘ St. Patrick's Day observes the death of St. Patrick, the Ireland patron saint. The day has many traditions, some of which include parades, shamrocks, rainbows and all things green and Irish. Celebrations take place all over the world including in Chicago, USA, where the Chicago River is dyed green, and in Montreal, Canada, which hosts one of the country’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parades, a tradition that has continued for more than a century!

This year, we welcome Spring on March 20, 2026. Spring brings warmer weather and melting snow, as well as colorful flowers and budding trees! 🌷
