Spring is Bringing Hope and New Life!

SENDING HOPE

Greetings, friends! On March 1st, we held our First Annual Containing Hope event in Boerne, Texas, where we collected a wide range of essential supplies to be shipped abroad to aid our work in Africa. Members of the local community, churches, and the CLI faithful came out to help gather and prepare items for transport. We also had such a big response from supporters who were not able to make it to the event, but purchased items via our Amazon Wish List or dropped items off in advance. We are so grateful for everyone's participation! If you would like, please take a moment and watch the recap video above.

We are happy to report that there was not an inch of unused space in the container when all was said and done! We sent over many items including but not limited to: medical supplies, hospital beds, school supplies, building supplies, musical instruments, and sports equipment. It is always an exciting thing to complete this project, and this year was another testament to God’s faithfulness to our mission.

It is a blessing to continue the powerful mission of Child Legacy and it could not be done without you and the wonderful people that were able to attend the event. We look forward to seeing you again next year for Containing Hope!

NEW LIFE

While it can be heartbreaking when we assume the position of caregivers to babies, it is also a beautiful opportunity to offer God’s love to those that are most vulnerable. We are yet again in the place where we are taking care of new infants brought to us at Chingele Children's Home in Zimbabwe.

With poverty affecting 71% of Zimbabwean children living in rural areas and millions of children going chronically hungry, you can imagine that there are parents that either feel incapable of caring for their offspring or simply are not able to do so due to disease or death. CLI comes in and bridges the gap for these sweet young souls.

The new energy brought in by new life at our children's home is truly something incomparable. The older children respond with open hearts to these babies beginning their journey in this world and it is such a beautiful thing to witness.

Through the work of CLI, there is hope for the future as these children are nurtured in body, mind, and spirit. We ask that you keep these beautiful babies in your prayers for health and that they already begin to internalize the love that God has for them!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Child Legacy Hospital Nursing Officer, Marlene Kaliko, is one of the hard-working nurses dedicated to bringing quality health care to people in rural Malawi. Globally, women represent the majority of the nursing workforce, and they play a big role in the nursing profession. At CLI, we would like to appreciate all women like Marlene who work day and night dedicating their lives for the patient’s well-being. Thank you so much!

A FEW APPRECIATIONS FROM OUR CONTAINING HOPE EVENT

We are so appreciative of the use of Flying Circle Gear warehouse! As you can imagine, the process of building containers, sorting, packing and labeling donations, and then the physical loading of a 40-foot shipping container is involved and requires ample working space. The weight of a fully stocked container can get immense, and we were so thankful for Flying Circle Gear, their team, and their unwavering support of CLI.

Special shout out to Amber Perales and team with Nothing Bundt Cakes for their generous donations to the event. The cakes were a delicious addition to the events wide range of food options. Thank you!

Special thanks goes to Glenn Hayner from One Veterans Towing for spending two hours with us getting the container chassis hoisted and ready to ship! When he heard what we do and what the supplies were for, he was moved to offer his time and equipment to get the show on the road at no cost!
