Almond trees in the Valle del Pop, Alicante
Almond trees bloom in the land of nougat and almonds

The month of March is synonymous with change, we leave the cold winter behind and the almond trees of Altea welcome us to spring with their fleeting flowers, as beautiful and elegant as they are resilient; capable of withstanding any storm. These qualities and virtues are symbolic of all women as we celebrate them on international women's day this month. Congratulations!

Inauguration of our new exhibition "Desde mi ventana"

The restrictions that the Valencian Community is suffering due to the pandemic, have made it possible to postpone the opening of the new exhibition "From My Window", which is installed in the Brasería Ca Joan. The space has reopened to the public with reduced capacity, complying with the new health regulations.

“From the first day I arrived to Altea, I was adopted as another Valencian and I fell in love with its people, hidden places, and beautiful history. I felt that I had come home to a house that served as a refuge for me every time I sought to disconnect. A home that made me feel protected and from which I could look outside to contemplate the leisurely beauty of the millior terreta del món. From this home away from home was born “Desde mi ventana” (“From My Window”), a photographic journey through wondrous scenery of a land that is embraced by a life force that rebirthed me: the Mediterranean Sea.”

From the Archives: The Baths of the Queen, March 2019

The baths of the Queen are artificial constructions integrated into the rocky environment of the Calpe coast. It has a romantic legend that says that they were used by an ancient Moorish queen to bathe in the sea without being disturbed by the waves. Currently it is known that the origin of the Baños de la Reina is much more plausible, these pools located in the rocks by the Romans 2,000 years ago, were salting fish farms and space to make the exclusive garum sauce.
