March into Springtime!

Spring is upon us, and you know what that means. Remember to set your clocks forward one hour this Sunday for Daylight Savings Time! If you're ready to leave Winter behind and kick off Spring with a fresh start, here are some tips for decluttering during your Spring cleaning sessions:

A Berry Tasty Spring

Plastic packaging can be so hard to avoid these days, but sometimes it's nice to know that industry leaders are putting on the pressure to make their packaging more sustainable. Our local berry giant, Driscoll's, has made headlines recently with their packaging initiatives - requiring their clamshell suppliers to use recycled PET from used thermoforms. It takes a whole lot of coordination to get it done, but the results are showing that it's worth the effort! Check out the full article here:

Spring is the Perfect Time for Compost

Our composting workshops are in full swing! Join our next FREE & bilingual workshop being held at our garden, Jardin El Sol, on Saturday, March 25 from 10am-11am. Inventory on composting systems are running low, so we suggest registering in advance to secure one per household/family for residents within our service area. See you there!

Support #NationalAgricultureWeek & #AgDay23

Residents in Monterey County take great pride in seeing our beautiful patchwork quilt of farms – among the most productive and efficient in the world. Our 1.3 million acres of farmland produces 371 million pounds of produce harvested by tens of thousands of farmworkers. However, farmland is vulnerable to illegally dumped garbage due to easy access from the roadway. Along with farmers, we are concerned for food and worker safety, and our local economy. Support #NationalAgricultureWeek by keeping our farm lands clean. You can report litter and illegal dumping to County of Monterey uConnect or SalinasConnect for the City of Salinas.
