Welcome to Spring! Some new safety features we are bringing in for all trucks. A safety book will display every location we work at for emergency purposes, should a need arise. Based on the town and county, each page will display 3 items on a Google Map with a pin dropped at their work location: Next, pins will point to the nearest Urgent Care Center, Police Dept., and Fire Dept. Just a preventative measure, in areas unfamiliar since we cover NJ, NY, and PA. The grass is growing and we are mowing! We've also noticed a lot of fallen trees from a lot of the rain we got in April. Clean up continues. May is also proving challenging, trying to work around all the rain. We are currently working on the solar fields. We are getting those sites ready that are located in school districts for graduation ceremonies. Investigating a possible new remote control mower acquisition to accomplish slope mowing. Stay tuned....

PS-This month is my birthday. Gemini. Time keeps on slipping, slipping, into the future....

Tree Recommendations for Wet Areas

Here are a few recommendations for tree planting if you are in a wet area.

Native Red Maple-great red fall color, with a pyramidal habit.

River Birch-grows along streams and rivers and is fast growing. Excellent bark interest that looks like it flakes. Constantly leaves small leaf debris, so plant away from any structures, as all of this can be tracked into a building.

Hornbeam-this tree does well in urban environments and has proven to be tough in many different soil conditions.

Sweet Bay Magnolia-reaches 30'-40' in height sporting green oval leaves with a silver underside. This tree will continue to flower throughout the summer and gives off a sweet fragrance.

Just remember to leave enough room, so the tree can grow successfully.

Remembering

Memorial Day, May 26th, is a national holiday that commemorates the sacrifices of all U.S. military personnel who have died in service to the nation, regardless of the conflict. Initially, it was a way to honor and remember the soldiers who died in the Civil War, with the first widely observed Memorial Day taking place on May 30, 1868. On Memorial Day, Americans are encouraged to pause at 3 p.m. local time for a minute of silence to remember those who have died in military service.
