Make Love
by Yurii Izdryk
this war isn’t war — it’s a chance not to kill anyone
this love isn’t love unto death — it’s as long as it lasts
to protect one another is all this occasion demands
and to look at the world through a steady rifle sight
and to look within ourselves through every microscope
and to look at you at every hour every minute at all times
to protect one another — and in keeping calm and carrying on
to burn down to the ground and to rise up as smoke
this war isn’t war — but a certain and fiery passion
this love is forever — just as moments pass forever
we hit bottom to get stuck in some new heaven
there is a string that binds us all together
that string between us is a safety fuse

Parents, You're Not Alone
It's hard enough under ordinary circumstances to get to know other parents in high school. Going into our third year of the pandemic, it's been almost impossible to feel part of a larger parent community. Do you have questions about whether a teacher or class is right for your student? Are you confused about Running Start? Not sure of the best way to resolve an issue with another student? Wondering what to do about limited electives? We love our administration, but sometimes you need to talk things through from a parental not an administrative perspective. Your CSCA board is here for you. Chances are one of us has a shared experience we can gnosh about. Our contact information is posted on the Center School's CSCA page. Reach out to us anytime.

Plans are moving forward for a virtual auction in late Apr. This annual event raises funds for TCS programs like Model United Nations, the theater program and mini-grants. Auction co-chairs, Lina and Paul, are looking for additional volunteers to help procure auction items, build the auction website, and even be an auctioneer. If you’re ready, willing and able, email linarosetrujillo@gmail.com or paulchiocco@gmail.com. Be on the lookout for more details on the event soon!

Running Start Information Sessions
Running Start is a dual credit academic program for 11th and 12th grade high school students. Running Start students and their families do not pay tuition for Running Start courses, but they may need to pay college fees and buy their books, as well as provide their transportation. Students receive both high school and college credit for these classes which can accelerate their progress through completing specific credit requirements for high school graduation and course requirements for a technical certification or Associate’s Degree.
Running start is a good option for students who want an extra challenge or to work at an accelerated pace, or who want more course options.
The Center School will provide 2 introductory Running Start sessions:
11th Grade Session:
Thu, Mar 31, 2022
3-3:45 pm
Room 365 (Ms. Carroll)
10th Grade Session:
Fri, April 1, 2022
3-3:45 pm
Room 460 (Mr. Colin)
Students who want to attend should check in with their MASH teacher and then go to the workshop.
Please visit The Center School website for more information on Running Start.
If you would like a parent or student perspective on Running Start, please reach out to the CSCA board and we'll put you in touch with a TCS Running Start family.

Seattle Skills Center 2022/23 Application Open

Each class requires 3 periods per day in a typical 6 period high school schedule (periods 1-3 for morning classes, and periods 4-6 for afternoon classes). Talk with your school counselor to make sure it will work with your schedule. Regardless of which high school you attend, you can take any Skills Center class.

UW Summer Nurse Camp
Every year we offer local high school students the opportunity to participate in our free Nurse Camp at Seattle Children’s. The goal of the program is to provide high school students with a background that is historically underrepresented in nursing an opportunity to engage in learning activities at Seattle Children’s that introduce them to nursing career pathways.
During this five-day camp, students will gain insight into the world of pediatric nursing by participating in clinical observation sessions. In these sessions, students will shadow nurses in a clinical environment and observe as they provide patient care and interact with patients and families. (Students will not provide patient care.)
Students will also work through interactive hands-on skills labs to learn and practice various nursing skills on models. In addition, students will have the opportunity to engage with an educational panel to ask questions and discuss nursing as a career path.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!
