The Clear Picture; Spring/Summer, 2019
Welcome to the Heartland Glass spring/summer 2019 newsletter. Every issue we share some news you can use and since it's finally feeling like summer but it's technically still spring, let's talk about some spring showers. Spring and summer are a popular time for remodeling and building and a big thing we have clients asking about is glass shower doors and shower enclosures.
When it comes to adding luxury to a bath, the spotless shine of a glass enclosed shower or custom shower door tops the list. The sleek transparency of a glass shower from Heartland Glass can make any bathroom space instantly bigger and modern.
Easy-to-clean tempered glass showers and shower doors can be either framed or frameless. Framed units are a little easier on the budget and can endure a bit more abuse. Frameless units require thicker glass and upgraded hardware so they cost a bit more but the look is fantastic.

Heartland Glass has some of the best partners in the glass shower door business. One of our long-term relationships has been with Alumax shower products. We carry the Alumax line because we believe that high-quality, high-class shower enclosures, sliding shower doors, frameless glass shower doors, corner shower enclosures and neo-angle sho wer stalls can all add a lot of personality and style to your modern or classic bathroom. Alumax has been a leading US bath and shower enclosure manufacturer since 1949 and a Heartland Glass partner for decades.

As a team, we are committed to total customer satisfaction as well as the production and on-time delivery of the highest quality shower doors possible.
Heartland Glass shower door expert, Lynette Zima, is one of the go-to resources on the team for glass shower doors and glass shower enclosures. She has been a part of the team in retail and commercial sales and customer service for Heartland Glass for more than 23 years. Originally from Sartell, MN, she attended St. Cloud State University for speech communication and business management. "I like the fast-paced industry," Lynette said. "We all have to be on the same page and that takes a lot of teamwork. We also all wear many hats around here. I like how everyone chips in."
Helping customers is Lynette's forte. "My favorite part of my job is cultivating those relationships," Lynette said, "I've known some of our customers for almost 20 years!" She can often be found in other areas of the shop lending a hand as well.
"When it comes to planning your glass shower door or glass shower enclosure, be sure to contact us at the planning stage," Lynette said, "It's critical that we are involved early on to ensure that the glass shower components that we create for you fit perfectly, not only in your space, but in your budget and timeline as well!"

Remembering a great man and a great leader

Doug Nelson 8/12/44 – 5/8/19
Former CEO and co-owner of
Brin Glass Company
“None of this would run or even be here without the terrific team of people we have.” - Doug Nelson
We are sad to report the passing of someone very special to all of us who taught us not only lessons of leadership but of life, Doug Nelson. Douglas Marshall Nelson, was the co-owner and former CEO of  Brin Glass , the parent company to Heartland Glass. A certified public accountant by trade, Doug and another fellow accountant, Larry Waller, purchased the Minneapolis-based Brin Northwestern Glass Co. in 1978. Just last June, Nelson retired as Brin’s CEO.

Doug credited his business success in large part due to his supportive wife of 51 years, Marilyn, and his team of employees and business partners. Doug continued coming to the office until the last 6 months of his life when his cancer became debilitating. Although Doug loved working, he never put work first. He had a gift for keeping balance in his life, and that is one of the strongest parts of the legacy he leaves with us. We will miss you Doug. Thank you for everything.
Ted, Dave and Dewie
have arrived!
Pine Grove Zoo
otter exhibit is ready for you to view!
In our last issue we told you about a unique addition to our project list -- an 8,500-gallon aquarium and 10-foot glass tunnel, part of the $300,000 otter exhibit at the Pine Grove Zoo in Little Falls, MN.

We got a chance to go see our project come to life, literally, as the new residents, Dave, Ted and Dewie were welcomed to their new home at the grand opening of the exhibit.

The community of Little Falls is clearly excited about their new residents. They raised $10,000 within four minutes to purchase the otters. The new otters are named after David Charles Eichholz and Ted Manderfeld of Deuces Wild! Dueling Pianos—and Dewie got her name for Deuces Wild as well.

Want to go see them for yourself? Check out zoo hours and details at
