News and Updates from the School of Social Work!
What a semester! Who would have predicted how the spring, 2020 semester would end? Covid-19 impacted all of us in so many ways. We went to remote learning in March, and continue to work and teach remotely as we go through the summer. There were many bright spots however and we wanted to share those with you here. Enjoy!
Our message to our students...
As we headed into finals week, the social work faculty and staff created a YouTube video that we sent to all our social work students to let them know we were thinking of them and wishing them well. Op Ed
Professor Colleen Beach had an Op-Ed published about the predatory activity that can take place during a crisis, with a special emphasis on protecting senior citizens.

New Graduate Certificate Created!
The school has created a graduate certificate in Clinical Social Work Licensure. This 18 credit graduate certificate is specifically for social workers who do not have the clinical classes needed for the LCSW license in the state of New Jersey.

Social Work Alumni on the Frontlines
Nairee Rodriguez earned her master’s degree in social work in 2018. She is the social services director at Arcola Health and Rehabilitation in Silver Spring, Maryland. She spoke with us about what her experience has been like working at a facility that serves both short- and long-term care patients during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
