MAY 2026 DWCS NEWSLETTER

Hello, Friends ~

Here we are, and Spring has sprung!

How about that Kentucky Derby? All kinds of history made. In addition to being the first female trainer to win, I'm a sucker for wins that come from a start in last place! Wishing Golden Tempo luck at the Belmont Stakes.

May 5th carried extra meaning this year, with the celebration of Cinco de Mayo and LinkedIn noting its 23rd anniversary! Where were you in 2003? I was also delighted to share my entrepreneur stories that day, on a panel of women business owners, to celebrate Small Business Week at a 'She Means Business' event at the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach. Success is not built alone.

I'm always seeking networking opportunities that are different. A two-hour cruise on The Lady Atlantic out of Delray Beach this week did not disappoint. Photos are on my profile under Activity. It was fun and awesome to be on the water, cruising on a beautiful yacht. Good turnout, too!

Wishing all the moms in my network a very Happy Mother's Day - whether you care for humans, fur babies, or other critters, it's all about love.

With Spring Cleaning, we always think of LinkedIn Profiles. When was the last time you looked at yours? Freshen it up with a quick DWCS session. Contact us for details

DID YOU KNOW? My book has been published and is available on Amazon! This has been an exciting couple of months. I wrote "Networking from the Ground Up: Planting Seeds in a Digital Landscape" to share stories and strategies from my 30+ years of experience that always required networking. If you're not comfortable with it, new to it, or love networking but want new strategies, this book is for you! Order your Kindle or paperback with this link: https://mybook.to/networking-kindle

Are you serious about getting ahead in 2026? Whatever your goal, let us help you and your team. Contact us about our growing services, including mini-sessions, and learn how we can best help you to excel using LinkedIn.

LinkedIn Tips and More

TIP 1 - JOB SEEKERS

Run a search on LinkedIn for hiring managers and decision-makers in your industry. Connect and engage consistently with their posts. If the hiring manager's profile is listed on the LinkedIn job you're applying to, reach out and message them. For more tips and to learn how AI is being incorporated for job seekers, register for our May 19 LinkedIn For Today's Job Seeker webinar All registrants will receive a replay and reference materials.

TIP 2 - AUTHENTICITY

We keep seeing more and more of this word. The reason? It is likely one of the most important focus areas of 2026 on LinkedIn. Using AI as a starting point is an advantage. Remember to add some of yourself to the final post, article, About narrative, etc. We are all human. The most attention is often gained from the most open and relatable content - make it yours.

TIP 3 - NETWORK WITH INTEREST, NOT INTENT

Sounds odd, yes? What I mean is this: All networking opportunities should be viewed as a time to meet and learn about the attending professionals. It is not the time to look at people with dollar signs in your eyes. No one wants a business card shoved in their hand after a handshake! Show an interest, be sincere, and connect on LinkedIn with the QR code option. That's a great start to developing a business relationship. Lots more proven strategies in my book!

TIP 4 - CONTACT INFO

Rolling out to all members is a demand that the Address field be completed before Saving. It is highly recommended that the city, state, and zip be included, and nothing more. Maintain a safe presence on LinkedIn. Tap on the blue Contact Info link in the top area of your profile to open the Edit option.

SPECIAL REQUEST

I am seeking opportunities to be a podcast guest! I'm excited to share some of the best practices I've learned that are easy to implement to improve everyone's networking. Thanks for your help! Email Debbie

MAY SPOTLIGHT

Dawn Kristy, Juris Doctor | AI Governance Advisor | Chicago

Many leaders assume AI risk begins when systems go live. It often begins earlier. Small shifts in tools, workflows, and responsibilities can change quickly. What about oversight? Can leaders intervene or stop deployment before risks become visible or irreversible?

Dawn Kristy helps leadership teams recognize these early signals so they can act sooner and prevent exposure before it spreads across the organization.
