Message from our Executive Director

The San Marcos Promise prides ourselves on being the bridge connecting education, business & industry, and community leaders to impact student futures. We operate on the premise that while talent is universal, opportunity is not. And EVERY student deserves the opportunity to chart their path to a successful future. So it is our mission to work in tandem with San Marcos Unified School District to bring in additional resources to help students plan for, prepare, and successfully launch their futures. And our goal for students is simple: Know Yourself, Know Your Options, Make Informed Choices.

We're excited this month to announce the launch of our summer LEAP Program and Techie Camps for students to explore their interests and develop new skills! We're also thrilled to bring back Future Fair, in person, to all middle and high school students and families. Future Fair helps students explore the many career and educational options that exist beyond high school.

Welcome our newest TSMP Board Members!

We are incredibly excited to welcome our two newest TSMP Board Members, Sharon Jenkins and Kamron Palizban!

Sharon was on TSMP's Founding Board of Directors and we're thrilled to have her back! Aside from her work as a Realtor, Sharon serves as Deputy Mayor of the City of San Marcos.

Kamron is the VP of Operations at Invisible Technologies, which he co-founded in 2015. They started the company working in homes in local neighborhoods of San Marcos, Oceanside, and Encinitas, and now have over 900 team members working across the world, with offices in San Francisco and New York!

Fun fact: Both Sharon and Kamron are San Marcos natives. Sharon graduated from San Marcos High School and Kamron is a graduate of Mission Hills High School.

Future Center Grand Openings

One of our most proud partnerships is with Pima Medical Institute which has enabled us to provide two full-time education coordinators who work at all three high schools in the district, providing much-needed support in career exploration such as learning how students’ interests align with possible occupations, job & career readiness such as resume writing, interviewing and networking skills, and personal finance such as budgeting, understanding credit, and taxes for teens. And all of this important work happens in our Future Centers.

We’ve been working relentlessly to raise funds in order to refurbish the old College & Career Centers into what are now the Future Centers. And each high school in the district now has one. With new and upgraded technology and furnishings, Future Centers are a one-stop shop for all future planning. A welcoming space where students can imagine their future possible selves and seek help to make it reality. What’s most exciting about these centers is they were conceptualized and designed by students, with the help of Tiffany English, Senior Director of Architecture at Qualcomm.

We are so proud and excited to announce the grand openings for Mission Hills High School and Twin Oaks High School Future Centers later this month. We'd love to see all of you there!

Future Fair is back in person

We're excited to welcome students and families back to the Future Fair... in person! Please mark your calendars. Open to all students and families in middle and high school.

Summer 2022 LEAP Registration Open!

Mark your calendars for 2 amazing weeks of fun for all students (including non-SMUSD students) in grades K-5.

Our LEAP classes are designed and taught by credentialed teachers. The program is designed to build real-world skills while introducing students to a variety of professions throughout each course. Each week will feature different classes for students to enjoy.

2022 Summer Leap Registration & Course Descriptions

Monday-Friday | 9am-1pm

(aftercare provided by Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos if needed)

Location: San Elijo Elementary School

Week 1: July 11-15 (click to register)

Week 2: July 18-22 (click to register)

Cost: $300/week

(Tuition Assistance is available for families in need)
