New Leaderboard Prizes & More
Spring2ACTion offers participating nonprofits the opportunities to win leaderboard and other prizes leading up to and throughout the giving day. This year we are restructuring the prizes in an effort to add more equity to our prizes and taking into account best practices from other giving day communities around the country.

The new leaderboard competitions will be based on the size of the organization, with categories of small ($0-$99K), medium ($100K-499K), and large ($500K+). Leaderboard prizes will be awarded to the organizations with the most unique donors per category, though prizes will still be offered for most dollars earned. There will also be surprise and hourly prizes so any organization can win!

Your Impact Stories!
Supporting and Empowering Girls

"The COVID-19 pandemic launched Space of Her Own into a new and scary place. We are a mentoring organization for vulnerable girls in grades 5-8, and suddenly had to put a stop to all in-person programming. Our staff started working from home and developed virtual group meetings and classes, but we quickly learned from our girls that many of them and their families were suffering mightily due to job losses and health issues. We decided to redirect a great deal of the year’s funding toward emergency support for our girls’ families just as Spring2ACTion was getting underway, and we weren’t sure how donors would respond to this shift. The support showed during the campaign was nothing short of overwhelming! Thanks to Spring2ACTion and the generosity of donors, we were able to deliver family meals, Target gift cards and essential household items along with art and science project supplies for our virtual afterschool programming.

Through this challenging time, we have managed to develop an effective approach to virtual programming, strengthen our organization and community partnerships, and continue to offer essential aid to SOHO families. Thank you to Spring2ACTion and SOHO donors for helping us make the most of this year."
-Julie Hawkins, Space of Her Own

Congratulations to Space of Her Own for winning the final $100 prize! Throughout January and February, ACT received incredible impact stories from Spring2ACTion 2020, which are now featured on the Spring2ACTion website. You can still add your story - we will be sharing them on social media and with donors.
Racial Equity Training
If you seek to promote racial equity within your organization, this 2-day virtual workshop (March 11 and 12) will equip you with tools to be an active ally for racial justice through methods of:

  • naming white privilege
  • centering people of color
  • navigating intersectionality across identities
  • influencing others

Whitney Parnell of Service Never Sleeps (SNS), will lead an intensive, fast-paced webinar series designed to explore how to use individual and collective areas of privilege to advance racial justice. Participants will walk away from the workshop with the tools to continue along their own racial equity journey and influence others in their organization!
An Inside Look into the
Alexandria Resilience Fund
The Alexandria Resilience Fund was created to respond to community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Funded by the CARES Act, the Alexandria Resilience Fund is a partnership between the City of Alexandria and ACT for Alexandria, the city’s community foundation. From October to December, the Fund distributed $1.89 million in grants to 57 Alexandria organizations.

In this webinar, we will discuss current community challenges, the impact of the Resilience Fund, and the future of the fund as we seek ways to build a stronger, more equitable Alexandria for everyone. Special guests include Bert Bayou from African Communities Together and Evelin Urrutia from Tenants and Workers United.

Please join us on March 4th at 7:00PM.
