You may have noticed lately that our weekly Community Updates are chock-full. We have hit that time of year when the school calendar overflows -- with presentations, class plays, spring festivals, and end of the year meetings -- and we find ourselves feeling like we're running from one event to the next.
Luckily, we have the next two weeks of spring break to take a deep breath, relax with friends and family, and prepare for what we here in the Waldorf community often refer to as "May Madness." Exhibit A: Below you'll find a whole collection of announcements and events beckoning for your attention. This, of course, is only part of what you, our school families, are tasked with organizing, as many engagements from your own work or family lives demand your attention as well. I recently attended the final parent evening for my oldest daughter's senior class at the Sacramento Waldorf School and was handed a calendar of events that covered the last 8 weeks of school. There were no less than a dozen (really wonderful) senior events that required either full or partial participation from me as a parent. I looked at it and took a deep breath, fighting the urge to sigh.
While it can be easy to see everything and fall into the "how will I ever fit everything in" scarcity way of thinking, I'm endeavoring this year to embrace an "Abundance" mindset instead - to think about all the wonderful opportunities that are out there for me to experience with my daughter before she launches to college, all the fun events to share with this dear CSWS community of students and families before we're all running off into summertime.
I hope to see you at tomorrow's All School Assembly, and that you'll be able to take advantage of the many delightful opportunities to connect with your fellow community members as we make our way through the fullness of springtime.
Blessings on your Spring Break. In observance of the coming holidays, the Community Update will take a break on the 19th and resume on April 26. I look forward to seeing everyone again back at school on April 29.
In spirited community,
Nicole Deutsch
