On Earth Day, we are taking a moment to celebrate our farmers and a season of growth at Iroquois Valley.

This spring, for the 13th consecutive year, Iroquois Valley earned a spot on the Impact Assets (IA) 50 list. Impact Assets publishes an annual list recognizing leading impact investment managers worldwide. The list, known as the IA 50, is a valuable resource for investors, financial advisors, and philanthropists looking to support impactful, sustainable investments. Being included in the IA 50 is a testament to our commitment to driving positive change in partnership with organic, regenerative farmers.

As Iroquois Valley grows, we are strategically building our team to effectively serve our farmers and investors. We added four new team members whose short bios are below. Visit our website to learn more about our growing team.

LEARN & GROW

INVESTOR QUESTION OF THE MONTH

Q: We understand that Iroquois Valley requires farmers to obtain organic certification. Is this standard better than regenerative?

A: Our partners, the Organic Farming Research Foundation, say it well:

Organic is an age old, holistic system of farming. Organic is principles-based, works with nature, builds healthy soil, and enhances clean water, biodiversity, and farm communities. Many organic practices are rooted in Indigenous land stewardship and Traditional Ecological Knowledge.

Although the term ‘regenerative’ has gained widespread traction among farmers and the food industry, there is no definition of the term “regenerative farming,” and interpretations vary widely. Organic agriculture shares many of the same practices and goals as regenerative farming, and it has a clear legal definition with objective standards. Additionally, organic farmers are required to be recertified each year, which ensures that our farmers make the impact our shareholders expect when they invest.

CONNECTING FARMERS, COMMUNITIES, AND INVESTORS SINCE 2007

As a corporate guideline, we do not look for specific farmland to purchase or finance. We develop relationships with farmers who want to grow their businesses. We move forward when we have a ready, willing, and able farmer.
