Spring has sprung in the Berkshires! Now in its 17th year, Baby Animals on the Shaker Farm kicks off the season at Hancock Shaker Village on April 17–May 9. Bring the whole family to meet and greet the new calves, piglets, chicks, lambs, and baby goats in and around the Round Stone Barn. Take a tour of the historic 20-building village dating back to 1780 or a hike on the Shaker Trail. With safety as a paramount goal, Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) will return with two new productions – on film – this spring: Dael Orlandersmith’s "Until the Flood," based on a series of interviews after Michael Brown was killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, MO, and Rebecca Gilman’s "A Woman of the World," an evening with the adventurous woman who introduced Emily Dickinson to America. The productions will include all of the remarkable theatrical effects audiences expect from MRT – top-notch acting, sets, costumes, and lighting, all filmed with multiple cameras before an extensive editing process. Franklin County is a treasure trove for bicyclists, but its crown jewel may be the beautiful 3.7-mile-long Canalside Rail Trail, built partially on old railroad beds. It meanders along the Connecticut River and canal and through downtown Turners Falls offering scenic water views, picnic areas, bird watching opportunities and access to the Great Falls Discovery Center and Turners Falls fish viewing facility. Flat, paved and safe from the road for the majority of the length.

Explore the Annual Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail June 12 & 13 from 10 am to 5 pm! The Pottery Trail is a self-guided driving tour of clay studios in western Massachusetts. This year they will have an online sale as well as the in-person outdoor events, there will be guests’ artists in addition to all the potters that will welcome visitors to their studios. The Wenham Museum’s Train Time tradition continues with this year’s installation, Calling All Engines! On display now through May 1st. The exhibition celebrates three, different iconic model trains and highlight their connections to places on the North Shore and Cape Ann.
