Team BC Finishes 5th at 2018 Canadian Men's Championships
In one of the nation's higher caliber annual squash tournaments, the BC Team of Marco Antonio Toriz Caddo (Sport Central), Harry Freeman (Vancouver Lawn and Tennis), Matthew Henderson (Cedar Hill Squash Club) last week garnered a consolation fifth place position at the 2018 Canadian Men's Championships.

On February 16-18 Team BC joined eighteen other teams who represented their home province to make up a total of fifty-nine of Canada's top squash men's and women's competitors at the courts at the Windsor Squash & Fitness Club in Ontario.

The event provided fans with an experience no Professional Squash Association (PSA) world tour tournament had offered to date. The nationally sanctioned tournament showcased Canada's top squash talent altogether competing in a single venue at one event providing the competitive arena for 3 men or 3 women of each provincial/territorial team to play head-to-head, one player at a time, with the team who won the best of three matches being credited with the win.

This year's national tournament also represented an unprecedented move in Canadian squash offering significant prize money that awarded a total prize purse of $21,000.

Stand Together to #ERASEbullying in Sport

A survey of BC sports organizations cited that fifty five percent of athletes who have dropped out of sport did so because of bullying.

To help mitigate this situation Squash BC funding agents ViaSport along with the Government of B.C. launched the #ERASEbullying initiative for all BC as well as provincial and local sport organizations to participate in.

This year Squash BC will support this initiative by encouraging our own members to show their support to a cause that serves to foster a positive sport environment for all.

We ask you show your support and join the conversation on social media using hashtag #ERASEbullying @SquashBC.
