Support for BC Women's Team needed!
Donate your unused Aeroplan Points
(deadline this week!)
Squash BC is trying to send a BC Team to the Women's Canadian Team Championships in Gatineau (Ottawa) from Feb 14-16, 2020.

Last year our team of Nicole Bunyan, Grace Thomas and Rachel Au came 3rd. A super finish given the strong competition across the country.

This year our team of Nicole, Grace Thomas and Lindsey Seginson from Victoria are ready to participate.

Squash BC is covering the entry fee and providing some financial support to help offset the Team's expenses. But we need Aeroplan points to offset their air fares too.

We're looking for at least 50,000 points and we need them this week.

Squash BC has created a charitable account with Aeroplan where you can donate your points to help our BC athletes compete nationally.

It's really easy & quick to donate and there is no cost to you ... only those points that you may not be using.
Instructions:
  • Once you are in your Aeroplan account click on Home. You'll see a drop down menu.
  • Go down to Donate Miles - click
  • Then type in Squash BC where it asks for the Charity to search
  • Then confirm it's Squash BC you want to donate to
  • Then click on the number of points you would like to donate and hit Donate
  • (you may be asked to log in again. That happened to me. No worries once you've logged in again you end up on the same page you were on.)
  • You'll then see a screen confirming your commitment. Click on the Confirm donation in the bottom left hand side of the screen.
  • The End

Please donate!

Women & Girls in Squash
The Squash BC Emerging Female Leader in Squash has been recognized as one of the most progressive sport-marketing programs in Canada. Through the program, club's who participated in Women's Squash Week (WSW) are able to nominate their own WSW Ambassador as an Emerging Female Leader and have a chance to win a $500 grant that will further support squash participation in women and girls in their community.

Last year one of the two recipients of this grant was Rebecca Vassilakakis nominated by Rob Kozlowski for her effort with the Nelson Squash Club's 2018 WSW.

The Nelson Squash Club used the grant funds in multiple ways. The funds helped to facilitate a ladies squash planning night that attracted fifteen women in a program that evaluating new women's squash formats and resulted in two new format alternatives.

The first of the format options led to a program for improving basic squash skills in this segment through offering two drills/skills nights following league play. As a result of the grant the club now boasts a weekly box league with sixteen women.

It is expected that the second of the new formats will be piloted in 2020.
The Emerging Female Leader in Squash Grant brings results to the Nelson Squash Club.
"A s the recipient of this grant I want to say thank you to Squash BC. These funds allowed us to help facilitate more opportunities for women in our sport in Nelson. This is an area that our club has put a focus on growing and we are excited for the momentum. We are now looking at delivering an event that focuses on women in our region that would include Nelson, trail, Castlegar and Cranbrook " said Vassilakakis
The nominations for the 2019 Emerging Leaders has been extended.

Participating WSW clubs are now able to get their nominations to Squash BC: office @squashbc.com by January 31st.
