2019-20 Squash BC Tournament Calendar
Squash BC is excited about this season’s tournament calendar!

Member clubs are offering numerous competitions to support our player community. Squash BC sanctioned tournaments are listed, as well as Squash BC's Provincial Championships. Through the course of the year, the clubs will create their tournament events and sign-ups will be available through this calendar. We will be adding information about National events when they become available.

2019 Pan Am Games - Lima

Canada garners a record breaking seven medals at the Pan Am Games in Lima Peru.
The Women's Team captured the silver medal while the Men's Team took bronze.

Women’s Team defeated Columbia 3-0 before facing a tough USA team in the championship finals ultimately coming home with a second place finish. The Men’s team lost to Columbia 3-0 in the semifinals, but fought hard in the bronze medal game to win third place.

Canada also captured bronze medals in Women's Individual (Sam Cornett and Hollie Naughton), Bronze medal in Mixed Doubles (Hollie Naughton/Andrew Schnell), Silver medal in Men's Doubles (Nick Sachvie/Shawn Delierre) and Silver medal in Women's Doubles (Sam Cornett/Danielle Letourneau).
World Junior Squash Championships (Kuala Lumpur)
At the World Junior Squash Championships in Kuala Lumpur the Canadian girls picked up the pace from the first tournament matches.
On Day 4, Sarah Cao (Richmond) beat Anna Kaidling (SWE), Charlotte Orcutt of Ontario beat Chae Won Song (KOR).

Lucia Bicknell beat Nathalie Malstrom closing out a very successful day for Canada in the Girl’s Individual competition.

On day 5 of the Girl’s Individual competition Sarah Cao lost a close match to Megha Bhatia (IND) while Molly Chadwick defeated Anika Jackson (NZL).

Over on the boys side, on day 5 in the Individual competition, James Flynn defeated Ibrahim Mohamed (EGY) and BC's own Sayeed Mavani beat Manuel Gassman (MAC).

Maaz Mufti defeated Kim Seung Hyeon (KOR while North Vancoiuver's Matt Bicknell defeated Reece Mclachlan (RSA) for a very successful day. Finally, the Junior Women’s Team lost to Australia (1-2), but came back the next day to defeat Japan (3-0) in the Team championships.
Women and Girls
Women's Squash Week
Women's Squash Week (WSW) promotion has ramped up as the women a nd girls committee are set to put more racquets in the hands of girls and women in BC.
This year's event (September 14-22nd) is aimed at securing 25 clubs and Squash BC is pulling out all the stops to reach this goal.

WSW 2019 Tool Kits have been produced and a full throttle communications plan is in play to drive results over last year's outstanding participation performance

Sport for Life is proud to release the revised Long-Term Development in Sport and Physical Activity 3.0 resource document. Long-Term Development in Sport and Physical Activity is a framework for the development of every child, youth, and adult to enable optimal participation in sport and physical activity. This third edition brings a number of important updates and enhancements. “I am excited about the third edition of the Canadian framework as it will support improving the quality of sport and physical activity across Canada,” said CEO Richard Way. “We anticipate this resource having a huge impact on individuals’ pathways, regardless if they are seeking to be Olympic or Paralympic champions or active and healthy for life.”
