Faces of Women in Squash
The Faces of Women in Squash is dedicated to highlighting the broad spectrum of female squash players in British Columbia. This section celebrates the diverse group of women and girls, from beginner to seasoned player, who play the sport for fitness, competition and fun. We hope that you will feel inspired by their stories.
Laura Ramsay
Laura Ramsey is considered a legend in the sport of squash in Canada. 

She first started playing racquetball in 1978 when she and her husband moved to Coquitlam from Toronto. She initially played at the Blue Mountain Racquet Club there until it closed.

 She then joined Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton and eventually Evergreen Squash Club in North Vancouver.

BC Men's and Women's Teams are now off to the 2020 Canadian Championships...

Squash BC is excited to be fielding both a Men's Team at the 2020 Canadian Men's Team Championships is being held this weekend in Winnipeg and a Women's Team at the 2020 Canadian Women's Team Championships in Gatineau.

Women are seeded #3 and the men are seeded #5. For the full press release:

We had 6 pros come to play the Professional Doubles Event.
The winning team was Greg Park(New Jersey) and Viktor Berg(Vancouver) in a 3 team round robin.
Evergreen Winter Open
The singles tournament had 114 entries!

The Men's Open was won by Morgan Latremouille who saved 3 match balls against Drew Henderson in the semifinals and won in 5 games against Hamid Kiani in the finals!

It was great to see West Van City Counselor, Marcus Wong, and West Van Mayor, Mary-Ann Booth there spectating during the weekend. 
Trend Diesel Open - Nanaimo
The Nanaimo Squash Club 2020 Trend Diesel Open, a Singles tournament took place at NSC January 24,25 and 26 th .

Approximately 100 participants took part in this fun but competitive event.

Local winners were Owen Stacey in Men’s D and Melinda Morben in Women’s A.

There were many exciting and competitive matches in all divisions. The Men’s Open winner was Ryan Picken who defeated Tristan Eysele in the final.

The highlight Saturday night was a progressive $500.00 ball drop followed by music and games.

Junior Pathway Events
Squash BC has partnered with our member club coaches and pros to develop, implement and support a vibrant Junior Pathways Development Program that encourages kids to take up the sport, helps them develop their skills and progressively introduces them to competition.
Ceder Hill Junior Pathway- Feb 1st
"It was a fantastic Saturday afternoon at Cedar Hill Squash Club!

We had tons of fun playing a round robin tournament with 16 participants!

There was lots of laughs and pizza to be had too! Looking forward to the next one!"
Van Lawn Progressive Event
The Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club hosted a Squash BC Junior Pathway event February 8.

The event was sold out with 32 juniors. All the juniors had fun and were terrific!

Cups were placed along the side walls and if you hit them, you gained extra points. Trophies and prizes were given out after the mini fun tournament.

Thanks to everyone that played and supported the event. Hope to have another event soon!

The Junior Pathway Program is funded through the 2020 Fund. Income accumulated through this endowment fund is used to promote the growth of the game through the development of junior squash. To donate to the 2020 Fund, click here .
These camps give the junior athletes:
  • The opportunity to train with other athletes they don’t normally have the opportunity to train with.
  • A measuring stick to see the extra work that is needed to get to the next level.
  • A chance to train with different coaches, several of whom coach or have coached our national teams.

Many of the squad athletes are now off to the Jesters PNW at Cedar Hill this weekend!

Squad Camps Feb 1-2
Squash BC held its final Regional and Provincial Training Camps for the season at Vancouver Lawn.

Andrew Lynn and Giselle Delgado ran one-day sessions for each squad.

  • the BC Closed at VRC's West Coast Classic (deadline to enter Feb 14)
