TEAM CANADA AT THE 2019 WSF MEN'S WORLD SQUASH TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ottawa, ON (December 13, 2019) -- The 2019 WSF Men’s World Squash Team Championships are fast approaching, and four of Canada’s best are preparing to compete against world’s top squash players from 23 different nations. For the first time in history, the 2019 Championships will take place in the United States of America, in the nation’s capital of Washington, DC from December 15-21, 2019.

The historic event dates back to 1967, when countries all over the world sent their strongest male players for an international showdown in Australia. Since then, the tournament has maintained its core purpose and traditions, taking place bi-annually and switching venues with each event. 

Team Canada consists of: Nick Sachvie, Shawn Delierre, Mike McCue, and David Baillargeon.

CANADA WELL-REPRESENTED AT UPCOMING SCOTTISH AND BRITISH JUNIOR OPENS
Canada will be well represented again this year at the upcoming Scottish and British Junior Open events. A total of 24 Canadians will be competing in Edinburgh, from December 28th-30th, 2019 for the Scottish Junior Open and Birmingham, from January 2nd-6th, 2020 for the British Junior Open. This is the second consecutive year that Squash Canada has helped to orchestrate this tour as part of a National strategy.

FIVE CANADIANS CAPTURE 2019 CANADIAN JUNIOR OPEN TITLES
Ottawa, ON (December 12, 2019) -- After five days and 630 high-intensity matches, the 2019 Canadian Junior Open, held at The Club at White Oaks in Niagara-on-the Lake, ON, has come to an end. The prestigious tournament joined nearly 300 athletes from around the world, who left the event with valuable international experience and many fond memories that were made on and off court.
It was a very successful event for our Canadian players, with 25 Canadians finishing in the top five of their respective age categories and making the host nation proud. Canadians acquired a total of 16 medals and claimed five out of the eight possible Gold Medals. Read More...

2019 US JUNIOR OPEN SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIPS WRAP-UP

After four days of intense competition, our Canadian players will be returning home from the 2019 U.S. Junior Open, held from December 14 th to 17 th at Harvard, MIT, Phillips Academy Andover, and Northeastern University, in the greater Boston area.

The event is one of the most prestigious junior tournaments in the world, known for the large number of participants, with the 2019 edition joining 762 players from 43 different countries.

Approximately 70 Canadians were in attendance, all displaying great performances in their respective categories and many achieving impressive final placements. Read More...

Code of Conduct Policy (Updated): Cannabis
  • Yes, it is legal in Canada, but just as all squashers should not participate under the influence of alcohol, the same applies to cannabis.
  • Squash Canada Code of Conduct has been amended to include prohibition of cannabis during participation by players, coaches, and officials.
  • Yes, cannabis is legal under the criminal code, but it is still on the WADA list of banned substances.

JUNIORS CORNER
Be Part of Team Canada at the 2020 Pan American Junior Championship
  • Squash Canada is pleased to announce the selection criteria for the 2020 Pan American Junior Championships that will be held will be held in San Salvador, El Salvador, from July 4 to 11, 2020.
  • This follows Canada’s successful hosting of this event in 2019 that saw the women’s team capture gold in the team event, on Brianna Jefferson’s exciting 5th game win in the final match. Canadians also captured a bronze in women’s singles and mixed doubles.
  • There’s lots of great squash at these championships. The event includes an individual event, a Teams event, a softball doubles event, and a softball mixed-doubles event (doubles events on a singles court). Parity and national pride prevail, as competitors from countries in North, Central and South American and the Caribbean make for a fierce battle.
  • Be part of the 4 junior men, 4 junior women Canadian Team! Players will need to cover their expenses. Selection is via an application process, which are due February 19, 2020.

ÉQUIPE CANADA AUX CHAMPIONNATS DE L'ÉQUIPE MONDIALE DE SQUASH MASCULINE WSF 2019
Ottawa, ON (13 décembre 2019) -- Les Championnats du monde masculins de squash par équipe 2019 de la WSF approchent à grands pas, et quatre des meilleurs joueurs du Canada s’apprêtent à affronter les meilleurs joueurs provenant de 23 pays. Une première dans l’histoire, les championnats 2019 se dérouleront aux États-Unis, à Washington, du 15 au 21 décembre 2019.

En 1967, les pays du monde entier ont dépêché leurs meilleurs joueurs en Australie pour une confrontation internationale qui allait marquer le début de ce tournoi historique. Depuis lors, le tournoi a poursuivi sa mission essentielle et entretenu ses traditions, en revenant tous les deux ans, chaque fois à un endroit différent. 

L’équipe canadienne sera formée de Nick Sachvie, Shawn Delierre, Mike McCue et David Baillargeon.

LE CANADA SERA BIEN REPRÉSENTÉ AUX OMNIUMS JUNIORS ÉCOSSAIS ET BRITANNIQUES
Cette année encore, le Canada sera très bien représenté lors des omniums juniors d’Écosse et de Grande-Bretagne. En tout et pour tout, 24 Canadiens prendront part à l’Omnium junior d’Écosse qui aura lieu à Édimbourg du 28 au 30 décembre 2019 et à l’Omnium junior de Grande-Bretagne qui se déroulera à Birmingham du 2 au 6 janvier 2020. Pour une deuxième année consécutive, Squash Canada a participé à l’orchestration de cette tournée dans le cadre de sa stratégie nationale.  

CINQ CANADIENS REMPORTENT DES TITRES AU CHAMPIONNAT CANADIEN JUNIOR OUVERT 2019
Ottawa, ON (12 décembre 2019) -- Le Championnat canadien junior ouvert, se tenant au The Club at White Oaks à Niagara-on-the Lake en Ontario, s’est terminé mardi après cinq jours et 630 matchs très intenses. Le prestigieux tournoi a réuni près de 300 athlètes d’ici et d’ailleurs, qui sont repartis avec une précieuse expérience de jeu sur la scène internationale et d’innombrables beaux souvenirs. CONCLUSION DU CHAMPIONNAT JUNIOR OUVERT DE SQUASH DES ÉTATS-UNIS 2019

Nos Canadiens seront bientôt de retour après un tournoi intense de quatre jours au Championnat junior ouvert des États-Unis 2019, qui se tenait du 14 au 17 décembre à l’Université de Harvard, au MIT, à la Phillips Academy Andover, et à la Northeastern University, dans la région de Boston.

Il s’agit de l’un des tournois les plus prestigieux au monde, reconnu pour son grand nombre de participants. L’édition 2019 aura d’ailleurs attiré 762 joueurs de 43 pays différents.

Code de conduite politique (mis à jour): Cannabis
  • Oui, c'est légal au Canada, mais comme tous les squashers ne devraient pas participer sous l'influence de l'alcool, il en va de même pour le cannabis.
  • Le code de conduite de Squash Canada a été modifié pour inclure l'interdiction du cannabis pendant la participation des joueurs, des entraîneurs et des officiels.
  • Oui, le cannabis est légal en vertu du code pénal, mais il figure toujours sur la liste des substances interdites de l'AMA.

LE COIN DES JUNIORS
Faites partie de l’équipe canadienne aux championnats panaméricains juniors 2020
  • Squash Canada est heureuse de présenter les critères de sélection pour les championnats panaméricains juniors de 2020 qui se tiendront à San Salvador, El Salvador, du 4 au 11 juillet 2020.
  • Le Canada a eu l’honneur d’en être l’hôte en 2019, alors que l’équipe féminine a remporté l’or à l’épreuve par équipes dans un match qui s’est terminé par une superbe victoire de Brianna Jefferson. Les Canadiennes ont également remporté le bronze en simple et en double.
  • Ces championnats sont l’occasion de voir de l’excellent squash. L’événement comprend une épreuve individuelle, une épreuve par équipes, une épreuve de double avec balle molle et une épreuve de double mixte avec balle molle (les épreuves de double se déroulent sur un terrain de simple). La parité et la fierté nationale sont à l’honneur alors que les compétiteurs de l’Amérique du Nord, de l’Amérique centrale de l’Amérique du Sud et des Caraïbes disputent des matchs enlevants.
  • Soyez parmi les 4 hommes juniors et les 4 femmes juniors de l’équipe canadienne! Les joueurs sont responsables de leurs dépenses. La sélection sera basée sur le processus de demande, dont le formulaire doit être remis au plus tard le 19 février 2020.
