Ontario wins Double Gold at the
2020 Canadian Teams Championships
OTTAWA, ON, February 18, 2020 – The Ontario’s Women’s team, made up of three young and fierce players, proved to be a powerhouse squad this past weekend, winning the title over Team BC at the 2020 Canadian Women’s Team Championships hosted by Squash Outaouais in Gatineau, Quebec. Meanwhile, the Ontario’s Men’s team won the title for the second consecutive year over Team Quebec, at the 2020 Canadian Men’s Team Championship held at the Winnipeg Squash Racquet Club in Winnipeg,

Conception Bay South sets another
1st in Canadian Sport History
There were 10 keen young participant making Canadian squash history last weekend in Conception Bay South, NL as they battled it out in the Canadian Inclusive Squash Challenge, Canada’s first ever squash tournament created solely for mentally, emotionally and physically challenged individuals

Matthew McCarthy squeaked it out in a dramatic final over Patrick Hollett to be the 1st person to have his name carved into the Hazel Maud Hart Trophy. It was a bitter sweet final as Patrick had just defeated Matthew earlier that evening in the double elimination draw. Proud Luke Kennedy captured the consolation prize wining 2-1 over a courageous challenge by Erin Peterson.

2020 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Squash Canada is inviting nominations for the following volunteer positions on the Board of Directors of the national association:

  • One (1) Vice President – Finance
  • One (1) Director at Large positions (2020 – 2023)

Elections will take place at the Squash Canada Annual General Meeting to be held on June 20, 2020 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Deadline for receipt of nominations is 11:59pm EDT on May 21, 2020.

The 2020 World University Squash Championships are around the corner, and we want to make sure that all eligible players are aware of this incredible opportunity! 

March 10th deadline! From July 17-23, 2020, the most talented young squash players from universities around the world will converge and compete in Shanghai, China for the 2020 World University Squash Championships.
ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge Grants
The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge is back for another year from June 1 – 21, 2020. Organizations, schools, sport groups and workplaces are encouraged to get active, host events and track minutes to help their community be named Canada’s Most Active Community and win $150,000 toward local physical activity initiatives.
Organizations can apply for a micro-grant from January 27 – February 28 to support their events during the challenge period. Learn more here.

L’ONTARIO REMPORTE DEUX MÉDAILLES D’OR AUX CHAMPIONNATS CANADIENS PAR ÉQUIPE 2020
OTTAWA (ON), 18 février 2020 – L’équipe féminine de l’Ontario, formée de trois jeunes joueuses impitoyables, a prouvé son immense talent le week-end dernier en remportant le titre face à l’équipe de la Colombie-Britannique aux Championnats canadiens féminins par équipe 2020 présentés par Squash Outaouais à Gatineau au Québec. Au même moment, l’équipe masculine de l’Ontario a été couronnée championne pour une deuxième année d’affilée aux Championnats masculins par équipe 2020 qui se déroulaient au Winnipeg Squash Racquet Club à Winnipeg au Manitoba. Conception Bay South établit un nouveau 1er dans l'histoire du sport canadien
Le week-end dernier à Conception Bay South (Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador), dix jeunes joueurs passionnés ont écrit une page d’histoire. Les participants se sont affrontés à l’occasion du Canadian Inclusive Squash Challenge, le tout premier tournoi de squash au Canada destiné exclusivement aux personnes atteintes d’un handicap mental, physique ou de troubles émotionnels.
 
Matthew McCarthy l’a remporté de justesse face à Patrick Hollett lors d’une finale spectaculaire. ll devient ainsi la première personne à avoir son nom inscrit sur le trophée Hazel Maud Hart. Ce fut une finale douce-amère étant donné que Patrick avait défait Matthew plus tôt en soirée dans le tableau à double élimination. Luke Kennedy a fièrement remporté le prix de consolation en l’emportant 2-1 face à son courageux adversaire, Erin Peterson.

Les élections auront lieu lors de l’assemblée générale annuelle de Squash Canada le 20 juin 2020 à Ottawa (Ontario).

Les Championnats mondiaux universitaires 2020 sont à nos portes, et nous souhaitons que tous les joueurs admissibles soient au courant de cette chance inouïe qui s’offre à eux ! Les joueurs ont jusqu’au 10 mars pour manifester leur intention de participer!

Du 17 au 23 juillet 2020, les meilleurs joueurs de squash des universités des quatre coins du monde se donneront rendez-vous à Shanghai en Chine à l’occasion des Championnats mondiaux universitaires de squash 2020.

Subventions Défi Ensemble, tout va mieux de ParticipACTION
Le Défi Ensemble, tout va mieux de ParticipACTION est de retour cette année, du 1 er au 21 juin 2020. Nous invitons les organisations, écoles, équipes sportives et lieux de travail à s'activer, à organiser des événements et à enregistrer leurs minutes afin d'aider leur communauté à être couronnée Communauté la plus active au Canada et à remporter 150 000 $ pour des projets d’activité physique.
Les organisations peuvent faire une demande de subvention du 27 janvier au 28 février prochain afin de soutenir leurs événements pendant la durée du Défi. En savoir plus ici.

  • Squash Canada a mis au point le protocole sur les commotions cérébrales de Squash Canada pour aider à orienter la gestion des athlètes susceptibles de subir une commotion cérébrale à la suite de leur participation à des activités de Squash Canada. Cliquez ici pour en savoir plus.
