News and Updates - 04/07/24
Hello Carl! Here's the latest rundown on all things squash related in the Boston area.
League Championship Winner Crowned
Congrats to The University Club, this season's winner of the MA Squash League Championship Cup!
| |
At the start of the celebratory evening we had at least 6 clubs that could have taken the Cup, each with two+ teams participating in finals night. Ultimately, The University Club, the only club with three teams in the finals, pulled off the victory with wins in the O5.0+ and O6.0. Recent Cup winners Cambridge Athletic and Life Time- MetroWest both had an impressive 5 teams participating in all playoff rounds. The tightest match of the evening by far was Newton Squash & Tennis Club's win by one point, 104-103, over SquashWest in the O3.5, having tied in matches and games. Not to be overlooked, the length and stamina of the Open over 50+ league, the only division where each match went to 5 games, with PAR15 scoring no less. The matches went well into the evening, and ultimately, Life Time- MetroWest prevailed over Maugus in the 50+.
MA Squash League Division Winners:
Open 6.0+: University Club 1 def. University Club 2, 4-0
Open 5.0+: University Club def. Union Boat Club, 4-1
Open 4.5: Cambridge Athletic Club def. Maugus Club, 3-1
Open 4.0: Union Boat Club A def. Life Time- MetroWest/Blue, 3-1
Open 3.5: Newton S&TC def. SquashWest, 2-2(6-6)(104-103)
Open Over 50+: Life Time- MetroWest def. Maugus Club, 3-1
Women's 2.5/3.5: Cambridge Athletic Club def. SquashWest, 4-1
Hearty thanks to all our dedicated volunteer captains and league chairs. None of this is possible without their organizational skills and enthusiasm. A fabulous time was had by all, and we can't wait for the next big event at Harvard's Murr Center, the MA Squash Singles Championships Thursday, April 25! See you there!!
