2025 Will Hartigan Speaker Series on Athletics and Wellness

Please join us for the 2025 Will Hartigan Speaker Series on Athletics and Wellness

Featuring Brian Brown on his experience with Alcoholism, Athletics, Recovery and Wellness

Program, Q&A, and refreshments to be served.

Brian has been recognized by his peers many times as one of New York’s top trial attorneys.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College where he was a four-year letterman in football. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree from the Fordham University School of Law where he served on the editorial board of the Fordham International Law Journal and as President of the Irish-American Law Students Association.

Brian’s real passions in life are his family and his recovery. Brian and his wife, Meredith, have three teenage girls (17, 15, 13) and reside in Manhattan. Brian has been in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction for nearly 20 years and is active in 12 Step recovery groups. He has had the privilege of mentoring and “sponsoring” many men, including the late Will Hartigan, on their own recovery journeys. Brian also serves on the Board of Directors of the Hopeful Hands Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that provides scholarships for addiction and mental-health treatment to people in need, particularly, but not exclusively, veterans. Brian is eternally grateful for the gift of getting to participate in the recovery of other addicts and alcoholics and contribute to the restoration of families touched by the disease of addiction.

College Squash Open House

The College Squash Association (CSA) invites families to an open house celebrating the college squash experience and the opportunities it creates for student-athletes. Squash in college is more than just competition – it is a chance for students to challenge themselves, grow as leaders, and build lifelong friendships within an extraordinary academic and athletic community.

During this event, we will introduce the CSA – who we are, what we do, and where the sport is headed – while also tackling one of the most important topics for families: navigating the recruiting process. From understanding the pathway into college squash to learning how the CSA supports players and programs, the evening will provide clarity and perspective for both current and prospective families.

The conversation will bring together leaders from across the college squash community, including:

  • Harry Smith, Commissioner, College Squash Association
  • John Nimick, Chair Emeritus, College Squash Association
  • Luke Hammond, Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator, Harvard University
  • Joe Raho, Head Coach, Tufts University
  • Mike Way, Head Coach, Harvard University

Together, they will share insights into what it means to play squash in college, walk through the recruiting process, and answer questions in an interactive Q&A. The evening will conclude with time to connect informally with coaches, CSA representatives, and squash enthusiasts.
