Hello Carl! Here's the latest rundown on all things squash related in the Boston area.

MA State Singles Championships 2025 Deadline Extended until January 12th

Registrations for the MA state singles championships for juniors and adults are now open. The new registration deadline is January 12, 2025. All matches are self-scheduled (except the finals) and played on international width courts at a mutually agreed upon location.  An in-person Finals Night will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Harvard's Murr Center.

Tom Poor MA State Doubles Tournament Registration Open

Registrations for the Tom Poor MA State Doubles tournament are now open. This is an excellent opportunity for players of all abilities and ages to compete in hardball doubles. There is no entry fee for current MA Squash members. Registration deadline is February 17th, 2025. Sign up on ClubLocker.


Play begins on Feb 25th. This is a self-scheduled tournament that will culminate with finals being played on April 28th and May 5th at The University Club. All the finalists should be available to play on those dates.

MFS Pro-AM Doubles at The University Club


The MFS Pro-Am Doubles Championships will be held from January 8th-12th. There will be competition in both men’s and women’s pro divisions, and two pro-ams will also be featured. Over $80,000 will be distributed to the professionals, and the best squash doubles players in the world will showcase their undeniable skill.

 

Come watch some of the best men's and women's doubles players in the world compete in your backyard. Viewing capacity is limited, please reach out to squash@uclub.org or Charlie Humber at (617) 283-1265 if interested.

Public High School Squash Tournament

Join us on January 18th, 12PM at SquashBusters, Boston for the first-annual Boston Area Public High School Squash Tournament featuring teams from Brookline, Needham, Cambridge-Arlington, Wellesley, Acton-Boxborough, SquashBusters-Boston and SquashBusters-Lawrence. Junior Round Robin Session with Nat Lovell

Nat Lovell, who is the Rules and Referee Director for MA Squash and a US National Level Certified Squash Referee, will do a referee clinic for the players and parents on January 26th, 3PM at Harvard’s Murr Center. Nat has been refereeing high level players consistently for over 10 years including the World Junior Championships, US Open, US Junior Open, US Junior Closed, Millet JCT, MA State Finals, CSA Men’s & Women’s College Team/Individual Championships, PanAms, and WSO/PSA tournaments.


The referee clinic is open to all the MA Squash Juniors and players interested in learning more about refereeing. Q&A to follow. Read below for Round Robin details.

Mental Training With Mike Way

Join us for a valuable session with Mike Way, where he'll explore the basics of mental training in sports. This session is for adult and junior players and parents of players who want to learn how to enhance mental focus, improve performance, and support the mental game. Mike will cover key components of mental training, share examples from professional athletes and provide valuable insights for sports parents on how to support your child’s mental game.


Coffee and bagels will be provided, courtesy of MA Squash.

Referee Clinics offered by MA Squash

Interested in hosting a MA Squash sponsored free referee clinic at your club? Please contact Nat Lovell for a one hour multi-media Rules and Refereeing Clinic at your club or school. Nat is the Rules and Referee Director for Massachusetts Squash and is a US Squash National Level Certified Squash Referee. He often referees top junior and professional matches for Massachusetts Squash, US Squash, and other international organizations. Nat can be reached at nwlovell@yahoo.com

MA Squash Junior Round Robins

MA Squash is pleased to announce its Junior Round Robin Program for the 2024-25 season.This series of Sunday afternoon round robins, held at Harvard’s Murr Center, allows beginner/intermediate junior players to play games in a friendly, less competitive environment.


There are two separate sessions held on these Sunday afternoons. We’ll start the season with Pods 1, 2, and 5 playing from 2:00-3:30 pm. Pods 3 and 4 will play from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Please visit our website to know your pod.


Volunteers are always needed. Parents are encouraged to help out at the sessions – no prior experience is necessary. Just let the Round Robin site coordinator know when you arrive on the day of play.
