Principal's Perspective
Dear Delone Catholic Families,

Praised be Jesus Christ! This summer has been filled with many personal blessings: a trip to southern Texas to visit the grandkids, an opportunity to retreat to the beach in Lewes, Delaware, and time to reconnect with old friends while attending my 45th high school class reunion! Where have the years and the summer gone??? As vacation draws to a close, however, rested and renewed, we now turn our focus toward welcoming the incoming members of the Class of 2023 and all our returning and transfer students!
An additional blessing that I experienced this summer was participation in the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education Conference held at the Catholic University of America. It provided much food for thought and reflection as we continue to lay the groundwork for the future of Delone Catholic High School. Repeatedly, Catholic educators were reminded of the five essential marks of Catholic schools as outlined in the Holy See's Teaching on Catholic Schools. These include being: (1) inspired by a supernatural vision, that is, forming young men and women to be good citizens who love God and neighbor and are willing to fulfill their divine vocation as living saints; (2) founded on a Christian anthropology, providing an education permeated by a correct understanding of the human person as a child of God, created in His image and likeness; (3) animated by communion and community, involving cooperation and collaboration among stakeholders and healthy interaction between students and educators, all occurring within a learning environment "illumined by the light of faith;" (4) imbued with a Catholic worldview throughout its curriculum, inspired and guided by the Gospel, "intentionally directed to the growth of the whole person;" and, (5) sustained by Gospel witness, reflecting a Christian ethos in which all staff "reveal the Christian message not only by word but also by every gesture of their behavior," both inside and outside the classroom.
As this text concludes, "Ensuring their genuinely Catholic identity is the Church's greatest educational challenge." It is a challenge the Delone Catholic community embraces this year as we revise our five year Strategic Plan, submit our documentation for November's upcoming Middle States Re-Accreditation visit, engage in professional development centered on the implementation of the Charlotte Danielson educational framework, and re-examine our curriculum and graduation requirements to better "build up the community of believers, evangelize the culture, and serve the common good of society." To this end, we have included a spiritual life objective within our Middle States proposal, instituted an AP Computer Science Principles Course and up-graded our computer science lab, and expanded the use of our Naviance program to support college and career readiness, in addition to modifying our schedule to allow for increased career exploration prior to graduation. This spirit of renewal is also reflected externally in the many beautification projects manifested throughout our school and its grounds, thanks to the time and resources provided by  generous donors.
Given that one of the hallmarks of excellent Catholic education is exceptional staff, we have been blessed with the acquisition of two Delone Catholic graduates, Mrs. Anna Lescalleet '78, who is now the "face" of Delone Catholic in the main office, and Mr. Tony Poist '78, our new Building Services Manager, in addition to Mr. John Hendrick, our part-time French instructor, and Ms. Heather Rohrer, our new part-time guidance counselor. We are very excited by their eagerness to serve our school and to inspire our students with the values of solidarity and community.
As we begin the 2019-20 school year, please join me in preparing our "Doers of the Word" to assume their baptismal responsibility and discover their vocation to holiness, to live a new life in Christ and to develop a passion for truth, beauty and goodness that will defeat the moral and cultural relativism that permeates our society.   Moreover, continue to pray for all those associated with the Delone Catholic Community so that we are able to carry out our mission with faith, hope and charity. I look forward to welcoming our new students at our Squire Jam on Monday, August 19, and all parents at Back to School Night on Thursday, August 29.

May God bless you always and in all ways!

Cafeteria Services - Update
Delone Catholic will no longer be participating in the Federal lunch program, which has resulted in a change to our services and prices. Please visit the school website under Quick Links/Parents/Cafeteria Services to view an updated price list, Cafeteria Policy and lunch menus. Cafeteria Payment Forms are available on the PlusPortals in the Cafeteria Services folder under School Links and Forms.

New Students' Lunch Accounts
With our new student information system, the freshmen and transfer students have not gotten student IDs yet, so parents are not able to set up a lunch account online at this time. However, you may send a check or money into school to be placed into your daughter's lunch account using the  Cafeteria Payment Form. Once we get the students their ID numberss, you can then set up your lunch account.

For Monday, Aug. 19, we will treat your student to lunch. The menu is as follows:  Stromboli Peas Potato Chips/Ch Balls Fruit Milk Alt - Hot Dog Sandwich. Students may bring a lunch if they do not wish to eat the school meal.

Squire Garden Flags for Sale (Benefits PTO)
The PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is selling Squire garden flags as a fundraiser. These will be available for purchase during Back to School night and in the Squire Store. Show some Squire pride with the purchase of a garden flag. (Hardware not included).

Save the Date - Back to School Night
Delone Catholic's Back to School Night is Thursday, Aug. 29. There will be an ice cream social beginning at 6:30 p.m. sponsored by the PTO in the school cafeteria. At 7 p.m., there will be a short prayer and welcome after which parents may visit their students' classrooms.

  2. The tuition grant will be applied to the current school family's final tuition payment.
  3. The transfer student must not have been previously enrolled at Delone Catholic.
