Information on the National School Lunch Program
Please note: This letter was posted in the last Squire Wire with the 2017-2018 lunch prices. Please see the corrected letter below.

Dear Parents,

Delone Catholic participates in the National School Lunch Program - NSLP. There are five components to a meal - 1. Meat/meat alternate; 2. Grain; 3. Vegetable; 4. Fruit; 5. Milk. With this in mind a student must have three of the five components to qualify for a reimbursable meal. One of those three components MUST BE either a fruit or a vegetable. If the student does not have one of these items on their tray they will be charged a la carte prices. Students are also allowed to have up to 1 cup of fruit or vegetables. This means that they are able to take two dishes of fruit or two dishes of vegetables and not be charged.

Lunch prices for the 2018-2019 school year are $3.75 per meal. This also includes the Salad Bar which is offered daily. For an additional charge, we also offer bottles of water, tea, ice cream and soft pretzels daily. These prices can be found on the school website under Current Families, Student Services, Cafeteria Services. You will also see the Cafeteria Policy and Procedures on this page. Please be sure to read this information.

If you have any questions regarding the Free and Reduced meal applications, please contact Michele Noel at mnoel@delonecatholic.org.

Please stress the importance of keeping their ID card safe and in good condition. If they lose their ID card a replacement ID will be made for them.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at  hsorice@delonecatholic.org .

Thank you
Holly Sorice

English SAT Prep Course Offered
The English SAT Prep cours is a six-day course that reviews the necessary skills assessed as important to the English portions of the Redesigned SAT including reading comprehension and writing. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to become familiar with the SAT format through sample questions and practice. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend each session and do the homework that is suggested. Here is what one of our students said after taking the course:

"I took the SAT prep course in my sophomore year, and have felt its benefit in each of my subsequent SAT test experiences. The prep course familiarized me with not only the content of the exam, but also its structure and grading system. Through practice exercises, development of time management skills, categorization of test content, and more, SAT prep reduced the anxiety and uncertainty I felt surrounding the exam, and enabled me to view the SAT as a test like any other-- one which I could prepare for in order to preform at my best."

The course is offered from 3-5 p.m. Sept. 24, 25 & 26 and Oct. 1, 2 and 3. For course information and registration form, please click here. For more information, contact Ms. Jennifer Noel

SportsLeader Virtue of the Week
One pillar of the SportsLeader program is a weekly virtue that we incorporate into our athletic practices and throughout our school community. Every week, we will share them here to encourage the students to take the virtue into their homes as well!

Our virtue this week is SELF-LESS - The strength to always serve others before yourself. We all know people who are very SELF-LESS but many times when we are young we are really focused on ourselves, our toys, our video games, our fun. Teams that are ultra-focused on themselves are not championship teams. Let's think about how each one of us can be more SELF-LESS.

Attention Alumni Band and Cheerleaders
Alumni Band Get-together
All alumni of the Delone Catholic HS Band (marching or concert, any graduation year) are cordially invited to play in the bleachers with the current Marching Band at the upcoming homecoming game on Friday, September 28, 2018. Mr. Yealy can supply some drums and keyboards, but most alumni will need to bring their own instruments. Color Guard alumni and former instrumentalists who don't have access to an instrument are also invited to join us in the bleachers. All participants are asked to register online by Friday 9/21. Playing participants are kindly asked to make a one-time $5 donation at the game to help the band purchase additional copies of the iconic "yellow books" for alumni to use. Alumni who participated last fall do NOT need to make another donation. If possible, participants should plan to meet at the west end of the home bleachers around 6 p.m. on 9/28. The 2018 DCHS Marching Band will hopefully have time to perform their field show around 6:35, following the pre-game homecoming crowning. Latecomers are welcome to join us any time that evening. Please  click here to register. We hope to see you there!

Alumni Cheerleaders
Alumni cheerleaders are invited to join us again this year for the Homecoming game against Biglerville on  Friday, September 28th, 2018 . If you are interested in participating, please contact Janice Leonard at 717-637-6171 by  August 27th, 2018 .
