Talking with Mrs. Tompkins
Students have earned a Freedom Friday Dress Down Day this week. Remember to follow the Dress Down Day guidelines on page 54 of the School Handbook. We appreciate your help with keeping our students, faculty and staff safe.

We are excited to welcome Mr. William J. Lippe to our Delone Catholic family as principal starting July 1. Mr. Lippe's appointment was announced to the school community yesterday. You can read the full press release HERE.

Health and Safety Update
There is currently 1 active COVID case at our school. Two high schools in our diocese recently had to shut down due the rise in COVID cases. We wanted to remind our families that we are still in a pandemic and that we ask you to please continue to have your student follow CDC and Department of Health guidelines on and off school campus.

The Diocese of Harrisburg has recently updated its COVID protocols. A student who has been quarantined due to a COVID exposure at school may get a COVID test after seven full days from the school exposure. If the test is negative, the student may return to school as soon as the results come back negative. The CDC has recently made this change and the Diocese of Harrisburg is following suit. Please email Mrs. Kay Hefner with test results. Please note that a parent does not have to get a student tested for COVID unless he/she wants his/her student to return to school prior to the scheduled return to school date.

Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation Directives
Senior students received information regarding Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation through email this week. A copy of this email can be found by clicking HERE. Seniors meeting all requirements for graduation will be provided caps, gowns and graduation tickets over lunch beginning the week of May 10th. If you have any questions, please contact the Business Office.

The Delone Catholic administration wanted to plan a special event for senior students on May 7. We will be sponsoring a Food Truck Friday for seniors on J.T. Flaherty Field beginning at 11:15 a.m. Seniors will receive a ticket for each of three food trucks (Boneyard BBQ, Rita's Italian Ice & Shorty's Funnel Cakes). At the conclusion of the event, seniors will be dismissed for the day. We hope they enjoy this special treat as they prepare to begin their finals week as well as their final week at Delone Catholic High School.

As always, I like to leave you with a prayer. This one I have chosen today is a prayer of thanks. We are thankful for so many things each week here at Delone... thankful for being open, thankful for a new principal and thankful for each one of you.

Heavenly Father, I humbly come before You with a grateful heart, praising You with all my being, for I know that every good and perfect gift comes from You –The One who never changes. I recognize those good things, both large and small, with which You have blessed me. As I lift up this prayer, I also recognize our forgetfulness in giving You thanks each and every day. Forgive me. May I learn to thank You for the good; And may I trust the evil to be made good by You. For You alone are worthy of our praise and thanksgiving. Amen.

May God Bless You,

Donna Tompkins P '06, P'10
Interim Principal

Pictures Needed for the Yearbook

Delone Adventurers--the DCHS yearbook is still accepting Adventure photos. We've received some great ones so far: students hiking, snowboarding, rock climbing, and cooking, among others. If you have some pics on your phone or camera but haven't yet shared them with the Yearbook staff, please send them via email to either Mr. Fournie (jfournie@delonecatholic.org) or Mrs. Gross (lgross@delonecatholic.org) ASAP. Thanks, and keep on exploring!

Virtual Student Pics Wanted
The Yearbook staff and I are looking for pictures of virtual students in their at-home learning environment as part of a two-page spread in the 2021 Yearbook. We do not want to leave out members of the virtual learning community in our 2021 commemoration! If you are interested in contributing a picture to the spread, please send a copy to Mr. Fournie's email address (jfournie@delonecatholic.org) with "Virtual Learning Yearbook Pic" in the subject line.

Virtue=Strength
This week our virtue theme is ENDURANCE - the strength to suffer through adversity with courage. Beginning new activities is relatively easy, but sticking with them, especially when the “newness” wears off and the going gets tough is where the challenge comes in. Only through endurance will we fight through and accomplish our goals and dreams. This week, recognize when you feel like giving up and remind yourself to live the virtue of endurance.
