Today concludes Teacher Appreciate Week, and we happily celebrated our teachers with special treats and recognition throughout the week. Our teachers are the backbone of our school community and we are blessed and grateful to have them educating our students. As we near the end of this school year, I ask you to join me in this prayer for our teachers:

Lord, bless the teachers who give their heart to teaching. Thank you for the special gift that You have given them and for giving them a spirit of grace and compassion. May they have strength and endurance to perform their many tasks, and may they know and feel the deep gratitude of those whom they teach. Amen

May God Bless You,

DCHS Hall of Honor Class of 2021
Delone Catholic High School inducted its Hall of Honor Class of 2021 virtually on Thursday, April 29. This class, comprising five members, brings the total number of inductees to 30 in six induction classes. The event began with the weekly school Mass at 1:20 p.m., at which the plaques for the class were blessed. The induction ceremony became available immediately following Mass on a separate broadcast and both the Mass and the ceremony will be available on the Delone Catholic Broadcast Network (DCBN), Delone Catholic’s YouTube channel. Attention Seniors: Get Connected to Your Campus' MInistry
As part of a Catholic high school, it is our hope that graduating students have gained a greater appreciation of and involvement in their faith, which has the potential to grow and strengthen in their college years. The College Connection program aims to help senior students transition to college by putting them in touch with the Campus Ministry of the college before they begin the school year. The process is simple. Complete THIS FORM and submit it and Mrs. Phenicie will then send the information to the College Connection supervisors, who will get in touch with the college’s Campus Ministry. This program has been proven very helpful in many other dioceses around the country and we look forward to you finding help through it as well!
Remembrances for Baccalaureate Mass
We would like to extend the invitation to seniors and parents of seniors to have members of your family or friends who have passed away remembered at the Baccalaureate liturgy. These names and their relationship to the graduate will be printed in the program and will be remembered in a special way during the liturgy. Please return this form by Monday, May 10.
Retreat Information for Freshman Parents
Dear Parents/Guardians of the Class of 2024,

I hope you and your son/daughter have had a successful school year at Delone Catholic! I am writing concerning the Freshmen Retreat. The date is set for Friday, May 7, 2021. The theme will be the "Body of Christ," with specific emphasis on the special gifts and talents of each individual and forming a unified class. We will spend the afternoon here at Delone Catholic, with some alumni who will be coming back to lead team-building activities and prayer experiences.

Students will attend their normal classes in the morning, everyone will eat A lunch, and then will report to the Sheppard Gym to begin their retreat.

A few other items to note:
· Students may dress down, according to DCHS' policy (p. 53 in the student handbook). Please note the appropriate length for shorts. Wear sensible, closed-toe shoes (i.e. sneakers) that you don't mind getting dirty– NO FLIP FLOPS

· Delone Catholic's normal cell phone policy stays in effect for the entire retreat.

· Dress appropriately for the weather. We are hoping to be outside for part of the afternoon. (You may bring sunscreen and sunglasses if you wish.)

· Snacks and water bottles will be provided for the afternoon.

While this is not our "normal" retreat for the freshmen, I am excited for the opportunity to provide time for class bonding and reflection before the end of the year. The alumni who are working on the preparations are very much looking forward to sharing the afternoon with everyone!

A special note for students who are virtual learners: Usually our retreats are graduation requirements and must be completed in order for a student to progress to the next grade. However, given the unique nature of this school year, you will have the choice to come in and join your class in person or not. Please let me know if you would like to join us that afternoon.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I am looking forward to sharing this experience with the Class of 2024!

God bless,
Mrs. Kate Phenicie
