Talking with Mrs. Tompkins

I would like to again commend parents for diligently completing the daily COVID screenings on their students and are happy to report that the students enjoyed another Freedom Friday dress down day for our students. Please refer to page 53 of the School Handbook for guidelines on the Dress Down Day dress code.
As we approach the holiday season, I thought it would be beneficial to provide details of our plans for the pending holiday break. All schools in the Diocese of Harrisburg will be remaining open and following the predetermined reopening plan unless we experience a significant increase of the documented prevalence of Covid-19 cases in our area. The decision to close any diocesan school will be determined on a local level since the 15 counties where the schools are located may have varying degrees of risk as the winter months approach.
As always, we continue to keep our focus on the health and safety of our students, staff, administration and families of Delone Catholic. All decisions will be based on evidence seen at the local level and not on projections or modeling from various national organizations. We will continue to work closely with the PA Department of Health and Dr. Hillson to keep all of the Delone Catholic community updated on any deviations from our original plan such that families can plan well in advance.
In keeping our focus on health and safety, I would like to ask parents for their continued help in maintaining the safety of our Delone Catholic community. We need to remain vigilant in our efforts to follow the PA Department of Health's guidelines for social gatherings. Attendance at events, parties or other social gatherings that do not adhere to these guidelines put our entire school community at risk. Just as we remain diligent in our efforts to keep students safe on our school campus, we ask for the same diligence when they are off our school campus. Thank you in advance for your continued support in this effort.
Veteran's Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11 and in honor of this day, I would like to leave you with this prayer. Perhaps you can join me in saying it on Nov. 11:
Dear Lord, Today we honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their country. We pray that you will bless them for their unselfish service in the continual struggle to preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country's heritage, for all of us. Amen
May God Bless You,
Donna Tompkins
Interim Principal

From the Spiritual Life Office
|
|
From the Spiritual Life Office: Virtue = Strength
|
|
During this month of Thanksgiving, all of our virtues stem from the virtue of GRATITUDE - the strength to speak and act with a spirit of thankfulness for the gifts and blessings you receive. We have so much for which to be grateful. This week, thank a family member for something that they have done for you recently.
A Prayer for Gratitude:
Lord, we have so much to be grateful for: our families, our health, our talents, our school, our teams. Thank you for all of these blessings in our lives. May we grow stronger in the virtue of gratitude and develop the habit of recognizing all of the different blessings you send us in our lives. Lord, we praise You for being so good to us. We want to be more like You each day. Thank you for helping us be more grateful today. Amen.
For Families - During this month during which we reflect on gratitude and thanksgiving, enjoy the video below on what truly happens during the Mass, our meal of Eucharist, of Thanksgiving. This month, take time as a family to pray before the Eucharist.
