Unison Prayer--UMH 602

Blessed Lord, you have caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our
learning. Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest then
hat we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life
which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.

Call to Worship:
L: We gather here to worship seeking a focus for our being.
P: God calls us to worship the Word made flesh.
L: We gather here to worship, though we feel drawn in too many directions, overwhelmed with too many tasks, chasing after something we can’t quite name.
P: God calls us to worship leaning into the Spirit of Truth
L: We gather here to worship, wondering and hoping, doubting and uncertain, frustrated and afraid. But we are here
All: God calls us to worship with our whole selves. We are here; let us worship with joy.
Thank you so much! I am very grateful for the gifts, cards, flowers, and wonderful time of fellowship shared last Sunday. I know that this is where God has called me to serve in this season, and it my privilege to do so with you!

Our monthly missional giving for October is designated for the Brennecke family to aid their ministry and missions. Kim is the daughter of Doris and John Longnecker from Grace. Below is a brief overview of how God called them to this work.

Steve and Kim Brennecke were enjoying raising a family near Grinnell, Iowa, where Steve had a law practice. At the same time, God was at work, burdening their hearts for missions and the people of China. In 2002, with four children, they moved to Sichuan Province where Steve taught English in a rural school. After one year they moved to Chengdu to teach at a university. Their simple outreach was well-attended. They found the local people eager to learn of God and to read the Scriptures. After four years, they returned to the states and moved to Ohio where their mission home office is located.
Kim and Steve Brennecke are presently serving in the Global Ministry Center of Baptist Mid-Missions in Cleveland, Ohio, where Steve works in the administration.

*If you would like to give to this mission, please make a note on your offering or check.
In our worship time together, the scripture will be read from the translation that is found in our pew Bibles, which is the New Revised Standard Version or NRSV. If this is helpful to you, please follow along, but there is no pressure to do so! It is always perfectly fine to sit and listen.
We will continue to tweak this portion of worship and explore the best translation for us to use and how to make it a more natural part of our time together. I would appreciate some input on which translation most of you use for your personal devotions. The UMC does not have one "preferred" text, but for educational purposes uses the CEB (Common English Bible) or the NIV (New International Version).

CALLING FORTH NEW LEADERSHIP: Each year the Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) is called to look within its congregation for persons who may feel a greater calling to serve God through ordination. These people may have heard God's calling in a dramatic way or through a gentle growth experience. SPRC wants to encourage anyone who may feel they have the potential for spiritual leadership to contact Pastor Jen for a deeper understanding of the responsibilities and requirements of ordination within the Methodist community of faith and service.

Sunday mornings we have returned to live streaming our Sunday services, but we realize that there are still some issues popping up some Sundays. On our website you can usually watch the recorded service after 10:30am or so. There is a link to our site at the end of this newsletter.
We continue to work on making the online experience better and appreciate both your grace and feedback as we make improvements. Soon, we will be updating our internet capabilities and are hopeful that this will fix some of the issues.
We are grateful to be able to offer our services online and appreciate any gifts received to help this ministry grow and continue.
*We are aware that we have not streamed "live" the last two weeks, we are working with a computer tech to address these issues.

If you have something that should be added to this newsletter from your group or mission, please speak with Pastor Jen or email the details to her at The E-Grace is generally completed by noon on Thursdays, so articles need to be received by Thursday 10am at the very latest.

If you wish to connect with me directly and it is not an emergency, please know that I will respond as needed during pretty regular office hours. I am in the church most weekdays from at least 10-12, call the office to be sure, as my weeks vary. Ann has my detailed schedule and can find me if needed. I check my emails frequently throughout the day, and this is the best way to contact me.
