Welcome to Discover Catholic Schools Week!  
 
It was wonderful seeing so many of you during conference time. The halls were a little quieter, but a lot was accomplished. We take very seriously our role as education partners in the lives of your children.
 
Today we enjoyed a theatrical assembly, followed by a workshop for our middle school students. This evening we will have a high school information night for our eighth grade students and their parents.  
 
On November 27 and 28 we will be hosting Discovery Toys consultant Cindy Connors, who will be doing a fund-raiser for our school. Discovery Toys has many wonderful educational toys and other products. Get a start on your Christmas shopping!  
 
This Friday, November 16, we will have an open house from 9:00-10:00am to include some light refreshments, a Q and A and a tour of the school. Please help spread the word to friends and neighbors about our gem of a school!
On behalf of everyone here at St. Ambrose School, I thank you for all that you do and give to support our school. We are grateful for each one of you.

Turkey Trot - Fun Run 2018

Turkey Trot Time is coming up soon!! Are you ready to  trot your way to some great prizes?
 
Turkey Tom wants to remind you that Thanksgiving is a GREAT time to collect pledges or donations from your family and friends! Be sure to ask your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to support you in the St. Ambrose Turkey Trot!
 
The Turkey Trot Fun Run is a GREAT chance to get exercise, help out our school, and win some fabulous prizes!!!
 
You can get extra copies of the pledge form   here and the fact sheet here .
 
Parents Needed! Please sign up to help count laps and serve refreshments for our runners. Any time spent goes towards your volunteer hours requirement.  
 
Three Kings Gift Shop Donations
      
Please consider helping us continue a great St. Ambrose School tradition -The Three Kings Gift Shop! The Three Kings Shop is a Christmas shopping opportunity for our students.  We stock our store with re-gifted items donated by our community that we sell for $1 or $2.  All proceeds go directly to the school.  
 
We are gladly accepting donations to stock our store!  Please take a look through your closets, drawers, attics, and garages and see if you have items in VERY GOOD condition to donate to our shop.  We could use gifts for moms, dads, children, teenagers, and grandparents .  Things like jewelry, toys, games, stuffed animals, ties, gadgets, mugs, books, religious items, knick-knacks, and any item you might want to receive or give as a gift .  No large gifts as the children must be able to carry the items home. We also need gift wrapping supplies such as: gift boxes, jewelry boxes, tape, and sturdy shopping bags.  All donated items can be dropped off at the school office by November 30.   We appreciate your support!  For questions please contact Mary Helou at   [email protected]

Coat Drive
 
WOO HOO!! Our annual WINTER WEAR/COAT DRIVE is underway!  We have already had a taste of the cold, so hopefully that will remind everyone to donate coats, jackets, mittens, scarves, snowsuits and hats to take care of those of our neighbors in need.  This year there is also a collection after some of the Masses in November.  Thank you in advance for donating clean and good quality items; that relays the message that you care that our neighbors in need are warm and have nice things to wear.  Donations from the past few years have been wonderful!  Please remember that we also love to receive brand new items, so if you see a sale going on, why not purchase a scarf, hat, pair of mittens, or even a jacket?  Tis the season of Thanksgiving for all we have, and now let's give to those who have not.  God bless you.

Shout Outs!
Shout out to our PTO Secretary, Mary Helou, who has taken on multiple projects to start our school year off in the right direction.  From providing room parents much needed information, to Turkey Trot planning, Hospitality/Reception organization, and beyond!  Not to mention helping with gala solicitations and being a full time, working parent. Not only does she "do it all," but she does it all very well and with a smile on her face.  Thank you, Mary; we are grateful for all of your behind the scenes work!

There won't be an issue of the Buzz next week due to Thanksgiving break. I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! Submissions are due by Mondays by 5pm. I accept submissions from teachers, staff, and parents. If you know of something interesting going on in our community, or want to give a shout out to someone at the school, I'd love to add it to the Buzz. I especially love pictures. Please contact Mrs. Rowley to make sure that we have permission to publish pictures of every student in the picture. Pictures need to be less than 5 MB. Thanks so much!
