Please pray for our second graders, and all those making their First Holy Communion this Saturday. May their day be a beautiful memory in their sacramental journey.

Congratulations to our band who earned a rating of "excellent" at last Friday's band competition in Pennsylvania. Combined with the bands from Holy Family and Blessed Sacrament schools they represented us well! After the competition they enjoyed some fun at Hershey Park. Thanks go to those who chaperoned, and a special thanks to Mr. Mark Sawasky for his great leadership and enthusiasm as our band director. Also congratulations to our Battle of the Books team that represented us on Tuesday. Under the direction of Mrs. Healy they did a wonderful job!

Last Thursday, we celebrated our annual May Crowning during the school Mass, in honor of our Blessed Mother. This is a beautiful tradition that is a great witness of faith for our students.

Next week I will be able to take it a little bit easy, as we will celebrate two days with substitute principals: Principal Carla Magana will take the lead on Tuesday and Principal Connor Terreri will be in charge on Thursday. Please support them as you do me!!

Please note the following upcoming events:
May 25 - field day (volunteers still needed!); 11:30 am dismissal and no Extended Day
May 31 - Spring concert (doors open at 5:45 pm)
May 31-June 1 - Summer book fair
June 8 - 11:30 am dismissal
June 13 - 11:30 am dismissal (Faculty meeting)
June 14 - No school Mass
June 15 - Last day of school (school Mass); 11:00 dismissal

Have a blessed week.

Scholastic BOGO Book Fair

The end of the year magic_stars_book.jpg Scholastic Summer Reading Bo ok Fair is  coming to St. Ambrose at the end of May. As a way to say thank you to the parents and students for their support, Scholastic is offering a buy-one-get-one-free fair so all the students have the opportunity to have some really good books to read this summer.

The schedule:
Wednesday (5/30)-The fair is set up in the library.

Thursday (6/1)- The students make wish lists during the school day. 3:10-9:00pm - Families may come in and buy books.

Friday (6/2) - 8:10am-2:00pm The fair is open to anyone buying books. 2:00pm - The fair is packed up.

This is the perfect way to get lots of good books to read during the summer. It's set up so that not just the cheapest books are free - when the books are lined up by price, every other book is the free one.

So put down the technology and get some reading materials that can stimulate your imagination!

From the Editor

Send in your submissions! They are due on MONDAYS at 5pm. It's very important that you get your submissions in on time, or I won't be able to get them in until the following week. I accept submissions from teachers, staff, and parents. If you know of something interesting going on in our community, or want to give a shout out to someone at the school, I'd love to add it to the Buzz. I especially enjoy pictures. Please contact Mrs. Rowley to make sure that we have permission to publish pictures of every student in the picture. Pictures need to be less than 5MB. Thanks so much!
