"Motherhood is a million little moments that God weaves together with grace, redemption, laughter, tears, and most of all, love."

We have a very busy week ahead of us! While we continue with Scantron online testing, we have a few exciting events. On Tuesday our 6 th graders went on a field trip to NASA. A good - and informative - time was had. On Thursday we will celebrate the Bard himself, with our annual Shakespeare performance by the 8 th graders. This will followed by dinner for the faculty and families. A special performance for our students will be held on Wednesday. This year they will perform "A Winter's Tale," ably directed by Mrs. Greshock.

We anticipate a special day on Saturday as we celebrate the First Communion of school and parish second graders. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue their faith journey.

On behalf of all here, we wish all mothers and mother figures in our community a very happy and blessed Mothers' Day.

Where would we be without our mother's love?
Lord, bless our mothers with wisdom to teach and guide their
children in a way that will help them to follow You and
to become men and women who will be pleasing in Your sight.
Give all mothers the patience to deal with the difficulties
of their job and, most of all, give them a special blessing as
they care so lovingly for the gifts that You have allowed them the honor of raising.
Amen

In Memory of Mike Eubank

Mike Eubank, proud father of JT (5th grade) and Lizzie (12th grade), lost his battle with cancer this past weekend. Mike was a wonderful husband to Anne. He was also a faithful parishioner at St. Ambrose and a servant of God. To our St. Ambrose school community, Mike was known to many boys as Coach Eubank. For two seasons he led the St. Ambrose CYO basketball team and taught a dozen young men the game of basketball and good sportsmanship. Mike also coached several of our students on the baseball diamond with Annandale North Springfield Little League (ANSLL). With quiet encouragement and a ready smile, Mike instilled in the boys values and strength of character that will serve them well in life. Mike chaperoned field trips and participated in scout events with JT. He had a generous spirit and a warm heart.

Mike will be missed by the St. Ambrose school community. May he rest in peace.

Scoliosis Facts

A normal spine is straight when viewed front or the back. Normally, when viewed from the side, the spine curves backwards in the chest area (kyphosis) and forward in the waist area (Lordosis). When viewed from the top down, all of the vertebrae should be facing forward. However, with scoliosis the spine curves to one side or the other in the thoracic and/or lumbar areas. From the top looking down through the center of the spine, some of the vertebrae are twisted which causes the ribs attached to the vertebrae to protrude, usually on the right side.

Scoliosis is a condition that may appear in more than one member of a family in the same or different generations. It does not develop as a result of anything that a child or her parents did or failed to do. Poor posture or carrying a heavy book bag does not cause scoliosis. Scoliosis is a spinal deformity that usually appears during adolescence, although it may appear in younger children as well.

From the Editor

Please make sure to read the Buzz every week. There's a lot of great things in it. Also, turn in your submissions! Submissions are due by Mondays by 5pm. I accept submissions from teachers, staff, and parents. If you know of something interesting going on in our community, or want to give a shout out to someone at the school, I'd love to add it to the Buzz. I especially love pictures. Please contact Mrs. Rowley to make sure that we have permission to publish pictures of every student in the picture. Pictures need to be less than 5 MB. Thanks so much!
