We are continuing with Scantron testing this week. Our 5 th grade will spend this week testing. Please keep our students in your prayers during this time.

Most of our after school activities are now in session! We are delighted to be able to offer enrichment and clubs for all interests, from Chess Club to Kolbe's Kids, from CYO sports to band and strings. We also offer drama, poetry, running club, etc.

Please note that we will have a 2:15 pm release this Friday, September 28, to facilitate a faculty meeting. Extended Day will begin early on that day. That is also the day that we are hosting the 7 th /8 th grade dance. Each year four area Catholic schools host a dance and invite the other schools. These include St. Ambrose, Holy Spirit, St. Bernadette and Nativity schools.

Have a blessed week.

Fall Wine Tasting

wine_glass_different.jpg Please join us for "Great Wine and Great Times" at the St. Ambrose Fall Wine Tasting on Saturday, October 13th at 7:00 pm in the school gym.  You Social Committee has been out working hard and doing research to bring you the best wine tasting we can!  Our latest find was a chocolate wine sauce from Virginia winery Keswick that we'll be serving along with our other great sampling of hors d'oeuvres and desserts.  This event is more than just about wine - check out the attached FAQ to learn about this fun-filled evening.  Send in your reservations now - tickets are $25 per person and $45 per couple.

For more information, check out this flyer. To sign up, fill out this reservation form. If you can provide a dessert, please
fill out this form and return it to the school office.

40 Days for Life Campaign

The "40 Days for Life" Campaign begins Sept. 26 and goes through Nov. 4th. You're invited to join other St. Ambrose parishioners to pray for an end to abortion.  Please join us in the public right-of-way outside the Falls Church Healthcare at 900 S. Washington Street, Falls Church on Wed. afternoons from 1-3 PM.

It has been reported that the number of abortions decrease when people are praying out front of abortion facilities.  There were three women that we know of in August who talked to volunteers and then chose life for their babies!

If you can not join us, please pick up a Devotional Book available in the school office.  This book contains prayers for the babies, their mothers and the conversion of those working in the abortion facility. Thank you. For more information call Donna Hores at 703-354-5280.
National Family Meals Month

This month is National Family Meals Month and the Food Marketing Institute has partnered w ith dozens of grocers and community groups, including the American Heart Association to encourage families to eat one more meal together at home (breakfast, lunch OR dinner). Research shows that eating more meals together leads to healthier eating, better grades and less risky behavior.

From the Editor

Please make sure to read the Buzz every week. There's a lot of great things in it. Also, please, send in YOUR submissions! Submissions are due by Mondays by 5pm. I accept submissions from teachers, staff, and parents. If you know of something interesting going on in our community, or want to give a shout out to someone at the school, I'd love to add it to the Buzz. I especially love pictures. Please contact Mrs. Rowley to make sure that we have permission to publish pictures of every student in the picture. Pictures need to be less than 5 MB. Thanks so much!
