Volume X | May 2019
Greetings!
May is Older Americans Month and
St. Ambrose is celebrating our Seniors!
Did you know?
More than 1/3 of the population
we serve are Older Adults!
Here's how we do it.
St. Ambrose is a HUBS Site!
The HUBS Program (Housing Upgrades to Benefit Seniors) is reminiscent of a program St. Ambrose managed for the City over 30 years ago when we provided home modifications and repairs for families in the surrounding communities. The HUBS Program allows us to more comprehensively serve our aging clients by connecting them to services that will first address their physical environment and then, assist them to stabilize their financial situation allowing them to age in place. Older adults just like Ms. B.
As a third generation community leader and advocate, Ms. B. is no stranger to the challenges facing seniors in Baltimore. When Ms. B.'s health began to decline, she reached out to community resources to see what help would be available to her in making minor repairs and modifications to her home. That's when she found the HUBS Program at St. Ambrose.

Legal Assistance for Seniors
Last year, the Legal Services Program at St. Ambrose was able to provide resources to over 480 older adults. The vast majority of services addressed the issues and concerns of wills, estate planning and reverse mortgages.

Our assistance improves the general well-being and financial stability of individuals when they need legal representation but are unable to afford it. Representation may include brief advice, advocacy, or litigation.
Aigburth-Vale

Aigburth-Vale is a historically renovated Senior Community that features w eekly trips, holiday costume contests, solar energy systems and the introduction of Amazon's Echo with Alexa Voice Service. Theses are just a few of the perks that come with living in this neighborhood!

Nancy (pictured far right), a resident at Aigburth-Vale said, "7 years ago, I knocked on the Aigburth-Vale office door where I met Mimi Kelly who showed me a ready-to-go apartment. I wrote a deposit check, called my children and the rest is history. I even have my bridge group here! I love the holiday decorations, various get-togethers and the accessibility to medical services (blood tests, flu shots, opportunities to speak to a nurse)."
We're in the News!
