St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School and The Hughston Clinic have formed a partnership to protect the school's athletes and students. Champ L. Baker III, MD, David C. Rehak, MD, Aaron A. Joiner, DO, and John Henderson, DO are the team physicians. Dr. Joiner along with Athletic Trainer Jessica Carter, ATC, will be on the sidelines during games. Jessica will also work with the student-athletes during practices and will be available at the school daily for additional athletic training needs.
As the official sports medicine provider for St. Anne-Pacelli, Hughston also helps plan and implement safety protocols and procedures at the sporting events.
Hughston physicians have been on the sidelines since Dr. Hughston started the tradition 70 years ago. When an athlete is injured, the sports medicine team provides immediate expert evaluation and care. If the injury requires further treatment or follow-up the team physician will design the treatment protocol. If an injury occurs during practice or a game, an athlete doesn't have to spend hours in the ER. Hughston Urgent Ortho offers after-hours orthopaedic care, 6 days a week, and no appointment is needed. Additionally, the Hughston sports medicine team provides high school pre-participation exams and Saturday morning injury clinics at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital during football season.
"Our sports medicine team and state-of-the-art facilities allow us to provide St. Anne-Pacelli athletes with orthopaedic care like no other," said Dr. Rehak and Dr. Baker.
"
We are thankful for the partnership with The Hughston Clinic," says St. Anne-Pacelli Athletic Director Corry Black. "We are getting first class care for our student-athletes."
