Volunteer Spotlight - Jill Blewitt

After suffering the recent loss of her mother, Judy Bridges, Jill made the decision to join the parish Bereavement Ministry. It was a natural transition for Jill given that she is a school psychologist with all the skills in communication and empathy that go along with her job.
“I’m not yet certified in the Bereavement Ministry but I will be soon and I look forward to becoming fully involved,” Jill said...

Thank you Jill for all you do for our church parish family!

Burial of the Alleluia

This weekend, after the 11:15 Mass, we will bury the Alleluia. The term "Alleluia" means "praise the Lord", which is often associated with joy and excitement. During Lent, the liturgical season which honors the sacrifice of Jesus, the term Alleluia is not permitted.
The "burial" is a solemn ceremony to temporarily "bury" the term until Easter, when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.

Tootsie Roll Drive

The Father O'Dea chapter of the Knights of Columbus will hold a tootsie roll drive after all masses this weekend. This is the Knights annual campaign to raise funds for people with intellectual disabilities. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Ministry Leaders Luncheon

The Stewardship Committee will be hosting a Ministry Leader Luncheon
this Sunday, February 27th following the 11:15 mass.
We will share updates on happenings as well as ministry needs. This will also be a great chance to socialize with other ministry leaders.
A light lunch will be served.

New Day Bereavement Group

Are you grieving the loss of a loved one?
St. Anthony Church is offering a 9-week program where individuals can share their grief stories and learn about the grieving process and its tasks for healing.
The sessions are conducted by trained facilitators, who have experienced grief in their lives, and are able to help you move through the tasks of grief. It is not a therapy session, but an opportunity to share with others who have experienced losses themselves.
The sessions will begin Wednesday, April 6 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. There is no cost for this program. Books used in the group are generously donated by Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home.
Registration is needed, as space is limited. For information, please call Charlotte Scaviola 203-758-5711, Claudette Decilla 203- 758-6283, or Jill Blewitt 203 758-5599.
