Stations of the Cross

You are invited to memorialize with us each Friday at noon during the Lenten Season for a devotion to the Passion of Christ. This service is brief enough to fit into a lunch break. Hope to see you there!

Tuesday Evenings in Lent: Growing in Love and Service

Join us this evening in Ramsay Hall for the fourth of a six-part journey of self-exploration: important work during the Lenten season.

This study was designed to help discover spiritual gifts and consider ways to offer them to our church and the world.

While this is a series, don't let the inability to join each week stop you from attending. Come anyway, whenever you can. Please register using the button (left).

Lenten Food Pantry Collection

During this season of Lent, let us be mindful of our brothers and sisters in Christ who may be in need of food. Please consider donating these specific items to the Food Pantry in addition to the regular food donations: tuna, peanut butter and any meat in a can. These protein foods will greatly assist the food pantry recipients. Food donations can be dropped off in the large orange tub located in the Narthex. Special thanks from the St. Barnabas Food Pantry Committee.

Nursing Home Bingo

Please join us in hosting bingo for the residents of Our Lady of the Oaks Nursing Home this Saturday, March 25th at 10am. All are invited to meet at the nursing home to participate. Please reach out to Julie Lafleur for more information.

Support our Little Lambs' future playground by partaking in the above event on April 1st! The pop-up, happening on church campus, will feature local vendors, Scholastic book fair, jambalaya, and a bake sale. In addition to attendance, MDO is in need of some amateur bakers to contribute to the bake sale.

Mark your calendars to come out and support! If you or anyone you know is interested in setting up as a vendor or providing individually wrapped baked goods for sale, please contact Angie Davis at [email protected].

EYC Good Friday Day Trip

We will once again visit Abbeville for our Good Friday day trip this year! We will visit Palmetto Island State Park Friday morning for some trail walking and palm cross making, followed by Good Friday service at noon led by Mtr. Madge McLain at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in beautiful Downtown Abbeville. We will then have lunch at Amore Pizzaroma before heading back to Lafayette. This is a really fun day and this year, we have the opportunity to worship at another Episcopal Church in our area! Please RSVP so that we can make appropriate transportation arrangements.

This event is $20 per person, which covers transportation, parking fees, a contribution to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and lunch. Hope to see you there!

EYC - March and April Dinner Volunteers Needed

We only have four Sundays in our Spring EYC session that do not have someone signed up to bring dinner! Let's fill those remaining four slots so that we can be sure the kids go home happy and full on Sunday nights!

Summer 2023 Mission Trip

The time has finally come for us to resume summer mission trips, and WE CAN'T WAIT! EYC at St. B has a unique opportunity this summer to attend a mission experience organized by Youth Mission Co., an organization with which St. Barnabas has partnered in the past for successful experiences in Memphis, TN and Asheville, NC. This summer we will head to Dallas, TX from June 18-23 for our mission experience! Located in downtown Dallas, DYM gives young people an opportunity to understand the situations of those who are living on the margins in a large urban center. Groups will discuss themes of food insecurity, poverty, homelessness, and the changing dynamics of gentrification in this major city in the heart of Texas.

Please complete the interest form linked below to reserve a spot for your child(ren) for our trip! This is not a firm commitment, this is just letting us know who is interested in coming. Both middle and high school will be traveling together, however the groups will be separated during travel and for daily activities throughout the trip.

The total cost per person is $550, which includes the cost of travel (we are driving), food, and lodging. We hope that St. Barnabas is able to fund the majority of that cost through reserve funds and our spring fundraiser (info below). The sooner we have final numbers of those interested, the sooner we can make travel arrangements and figure out in what capacity St. B will be able to fund the trip and what financial responsibility families might have.

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE PRICE TAG DISCOURAGE YOU FROM FILLING OUT THE FORM! We do our best to find the means to bring EYC members on trips if they desire to come. If your kid wants to join us but you have concerns about a financial commitment, fill out the form and we will work with you!

Louisiana Saturday Night

EYC is going to throw the party of the year at their Louisiana Saturday Night fundraiser on Saturday, April 22! All proceeds will go toward EYC mission trips to help defray the costs for our families.

Plan on joining St. B's EYC for an exciting evening of live music from the ŒUVAL Quartet, dancing, delicious food, and a silent auction! Click the button to the left to learn more and purchase tickets.

EYC is also currently seeking silent auction items for this event, so if you or anyone you know is a business owner, artist, vacation home or camp owner, etc. who might be willing to donate goods or services to our cause, please contact Etienna with more information.

Meet Rev. Benjamin Thoms!

Benjamin Thoms was born in Lake Charles, LA as the youngest of four, raised in Monroe, and split his time between the two, Alexandria, and Baton Rouge. Coming from the Roman Catholic Church, Ben was received into the Episcopal Church in 2016 after having been invited by a friend to see what it was all about.

He graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2017 with a B.A. in Modern Languages, Spanish Concentration. In 2020, he was granted postulancy and began his studies at the University of the South as an M.Div. student. Ben was ordained to the Diaconate in November of 2022.

As a graduate-student, his hobbies currently include reading for class, writing for class, and enjoying the natural wonders of Sewanee, TN while he walks to class.

Along the way, he met the love of his life, and now fiancé, Jacob George. Both Jacob and Ben are excited to begin this next chapter with St. Barnabas, and also to join with them and grow with them on the faith journey that is our shared life in Christ.

We are so very excited to announce that Rev. Ben will be joining our St. Barnabas family and staff as Curate this May!
