Newcomer's Welcome Series

If you have come recently to St. Barnabas or one of its many activities, you may be interested to hear about our upcoming Newcomers Class. Father Michael teaches this 3-part series each Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 PM. Class meets in Ramsay Hall beginning June 13, and continues June 20 and 27.

Instruction provides an overview of the history, beliefs and practices of the Episcopal Church. Newcomers discover a variety of entry points to find their way inside a congregation, taking a close look at St. Barnabas, its mission as a faith community in Lafayette and its commitment to moving visitors to members and members to disciples. Whether this is your first Sunday or you've been attending for a decade, all are welcome.

We ask that you RSVP (below) so that we can properly plan materials and seating. Childcare will be provided if sufficient notice has been given.

St. Barnabas Day

It was 1963 – “the year when everything happened,” according to a special news retrospective. Oswald assassinated JFK. MLK first delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech. Beatlemania began. Pope Paul VI succeeded Pope John XXIII. The US Supreme Court ruled government could not require prayer in public schools. Blowin’ in the Wind and Puff the Magic Dragon topped the charts. And a group of Episcopalians at Ascension determined to start a new parish in southwest Lafayette.

Join us in Ramsay Hall on Sun. June 11th after 10:30am for a celebration of our church's 60th anniversary. Festivities include food, fellowship, children's activities, and a ministry fair. Ministry Fair will also be set up between morning services.

Helping the Pantry's Mission Isn't Difficult - As Easy as 1, 2, 3

  1. Check the pantry needs list that’s updated weekly, then pickup 1 or 2, or 3 or 4, or as many of those items as you can while you’re doing your regular shopping.
  2. Bring your donation with you anytime you’re at St. Barnabas and drop it in the box in the narthex.
  3. Repeat the next week or as often as you’re able.

If you want to help but shopping’s not your thing, put a check marked “for the pantry” in the collection plate, or mail it to the church.
