Responses to the Climate Future Film Festival

Powerful, haunting, artistic, beautiful…

This week we’re continuing our review of the Climate Future Film Festival, shown in September. Additional feedback has been added!

“The films were incredibly creative and artistic. Rather than just educating us about the science of climate change, they communicated messages that went straight to the heart..."

Calling All St. Bart's Creatives

November 6th, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM

Please join us in the chapel on Friday, November 6th, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. for "crafty" creativity, conversation, and camaraderie. Coffee, tea, and a sweet treat will be available.

NEW DATE: Join Us For Fall Clean Up!

Saturday, November 14, 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

In view of the rain expected both this Friday and Saturday, we will postpone our fall clean up day to next Saturday the 14th, 8:30 to noon.

Volunteers are needed to help us prepare our building and grounds for the change in seasons!

Many hands make light work, and also make the work fun! Please click on this link for a list of tasks. Come for any length of time, and bring work gloves and tools you like to work with - rakes, tarps, clippers, weed whackers, etc. (There are also tools in the shed.). Come for the fun and fellowship!

Help Fill Thanksgiving Tables!

This Thanksgiving, St. Bart’s is helping the Yarmouth Food Pantry provide holiday meals for our neighbors in need. Our goal is to collect 60 boxes of turkey stuffing mix to help complete Thanksgiving dinners for local families.

Please bring your donations to church and place them in the collection bin in the Narthex by Sunday, November 15. Thank you for helping make Thanksgiving a little brighter for our neighbors!

Building Community, Creating Change: November 15

Join us after worship on Sunday, November 15, for a conversation with Bayard “Bay” Love about an exciting opportunity to create meaningful change in our communities through broad-based community organizing.

Bay and several members of St. Bart's have been exploring an effort to bring Mainers together across organizations, backgrounds, and interests to build relationships, identify shared concerns, and work collectively to shape the future of their communities.

Bay is a Partner at the Groundwater Institute, where he works with leaders and organizations to create lasting institutional and systems change. He brings extensive experience in organizational strategy and community organizing.

Stay after the service to learn more about this effort and how St. Bart's might be part of it!

Gathering to Prepare Memorial Garden Beds for Winter

Wednesday, November 18, 1:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, November 18th, we will complete the fall cleanup to prepare our Memorial Garden beds for the winter. If there are enough willing hands, we will also add some fertilizer to various plants and shrubs, and add more chips to the beds.

We will start at 1:00 p.m., to give time for things to warm up a bit. Please bring tools for digging, weeding, cutting back vegetation, knee protection, garden gloves, a tarp, and a water bottle. Something for energy (and perhaps warmth) will be provided.

Please contact Joyce Cassidy with any questions. Come for as little or as long as you are able - as always, many hands make light work!!

Christmas Fair Preparation: Frozen Foods

There is a mighty team of chefs who prepare a variety of freezable soups, stews, quiches, and casseroles to fill freezers for the busy holiday season. New items for the inventory are always welcome, so consider sharing your favorite specialty dish that freezes well!

If you would like to contribute to this effort or have any questions, contact Barbara Barhydt. Containers and labels can be made available for your use.  All items need to be in the freezer at church by Monday, November 30.

2027 Pledge Campaign Update

Our hope is to complete our pledge campaign by a week from Sunday. Are you one of the forty current pledgers who has not pledged yet? Please know that your pledge of any size is important and will be welcomed.

We are 70% of the way to the goal to increase our pledge budget by 11% for next year. Almost there!

You can bring your pledge card to church, or pledge digitally. Click here to pledge online. Thank you!

November is Boot Drive Month for St Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry

Thanks to all for the fantastic donations of coats and boots in October! We are continuing our drive for St E’s with a focus on adult boots this month. But we’re still taking adult winter coats as well!  This is a very important initiative; many of the neighbors St. E's serves do not own winter wear. Large sizes are especially appreciated. Goodwill is a great resource for boots with special sales every week. Please bring your donations to church and place them in the St E's bins outside or in the Narthex.

If you would rather write a check to support this effort, make it out to St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry and leave it in the plate, the office or give it to Harriet.

Reach out to our St E’s representative Harriet Davis if you have questions.
