Easter Flowers

Information Due April 1!

As we prepare to celebrate Christ's resurrection on Easter, we are once again offering members the opportunity to remember family members and loved ones who have died and now reside in Christ's everlasting arms, as well as give thanks for the blessings of those still living who bring joy and hope to our lives.

When you make a contribution to the St. Bart's Flowers and Music Fund in memory or in honor of your loved ones, their names will be printed in the Easter bulletin. The Flower Committee is preparing a special flower arrangement to adorn our altar during the service.

This year we have less turn around time than usual, so we are asking people to email Teri in the office at admin@stbartsyarmouth.org (or call: 207-846-9244) with the following information. The deadline is Wednesday April 1 by noon.

(Note: Flower Forms will be available this Sunday if you prefer to fill out a form.)

  1. Name of Donor (as you'd like it to appear in the bulletin)
  2. Choose "In Memory of" or "In Honor of"

4th Annual St. Bart's Day of Service

We welcome all parishioners to participate in our 4th Annual St. Bart’s Day of Service! This is a collaborative way of expanding our outreach and generating interest and momentum for serving our communities via local organizations.

Next Month's Outreach Focus:

Yarmouth Community Food Pantry

The coming month of April has been designated by the Outreach committee for donations to our own Yarmouth Community Pantry. We have seen a large uptick in need in our community for food, essentials, and deliveries to those unable to get to the pantry (located in the back of the First Parish Church on Main Street). There is a list of suggested donations on the box in the Narthex. If you prefer to write a check, please note "Yarmouth Food Pantry" in the memo line, and either mail it to YCAN (Yarmouth Cares About Neighbors) at P.O. Box 553, Yarmouth, Maine 04096 or leave it in the collection plate. Whatever works for you. Thank you for caring about our neighbors.

"Faithful Conversations"

These are challenging times. You are invited to join us for Faithful Conversations with Rev. Vicki Smith and Dennis Fitzgibbons on Tuesdays from 5-6 PM on ZOOM. We will meet weekly for 6 weeks and reevaluate over Holy Week and Easter.

This reflection series will use the book “For Such a Time as This: An Emergency Devotional.” It is not necessary to purchase the book. Each week, a link to the ZOOM call and a link to excerpts from the book will be in the E-News.

Please note that each week’s reflection excerpt stands alone. Missing one or more sessions is alright.

We look forward to seeing you.

Good Friday Offering

St. Bart's will once again designate our Good Friday offering to the Bishop's Good Friday Appeal for our siblings in the Middle East. Please read Presiding Bishop Rowe's letter about this offering below ...

From Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe: Support Holy Land ministries through Good Friday Offering

Dear people of God in The Episcopal Church:

For more than a century, Episcopalians have given generously to the Good Friday Offering, which supports the vital work and ministries of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East. Today, the need of the church in the Holy Land is greater than ever, particularly given the recent escalation of war in the Middle East, and I hope you will join me in making a generous gift today at iam.ec/goodfridayoffering.

I am in frequent touch with Archbishop Hosam Naoum, who leads the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, and I know how urgently he and his people need our support as they alleviate suffering and provide hope to God’s people of all faiths. The Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey recently gave the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem $1 million to support medical and trauma care for children, youth, and families in Gaza and the Palestinian territories, and I am hoping that we can build on that extraordinary gift with this year’s Good Friday Offering.

Your gift will support:

  • al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza, which has continued serving patients during the Israel-Hamas War amid bombardment, devastating shortages of food, water, and medicine, and extended power outages.
  • St. George’s Church in Baghdad, Iraq, and its medical center.
  • An eye clinic at Christ Church in Yemen.
  • All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Damascus, Syria.
  • All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Beirut, Lebanon.

The Episcopal Church supports just and sustainable peace in the Holy Land and around the world. While we pray and work for peace, our siblings in the Holy Land will continue to serve God’s people with hospitals, schools, orphanages, and humanitarian aid programs. These ministries serve people of all faiths without distinction, bearing witness to the power of hope and healing across divides.

Together, we can support the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East as it turns despair into hope for God’s people in the land where our faith was born.

The Most Rev. Sean Rowe

Presiding Bishop
