The Season of the Saints

by the Reverend Zack Nyein, Senior Associate Rector and Pastor of Imagine Worship

Halloween has always belonged to the church. This weekend we enter Allhallowtide, the miniature liturgical season that calls us to remembrance and hope, as we celebrate the saints of God in our lives and in the world. As the days get shorter and nights grow longer, the veil between heaven and earth often seems to become just a bit thinner. I hope you’ll join us for All Saints’ Sunday (November 2) with baptisms this weekend, followed by Remembrance Sunday on November 9, when we will commemorate all the faithful departed through the haunting beauty of Faure’s Requiem. Together, let us gather to proclaim the story of the new life and resurrection that rises even out of our darkest tombs and times.

Therefore, we are dubbing this Sunday "Saints and Superheroes" Sunday, and children are invited (not required!) to wear their Halloween costumes one last time before putting them away for the year.
