On this Independence Day Weekend,

we give thanks for 250 years of our country and we pray:

Lord God Almighty, in whose Name the founders of this country won liberty for themselves and for us, and lit the torch of freedom for nations then unborn: Grant that we and all the people of this land may have grace to maintain our liberties in righteousness and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Sunday Adult Formation Class is on hiatus for the summer.

We look forward to resuming in September after Labor Day!

Look elsewhere in E-News for ongoing formation offerings.

Mark your calendars and keep an eye out for details to come on our Youth Group Mission week Sunday, July 12th - Thursday, July 16th.

(Please note the updated dates.)

Summer Campers to Camp Mikell

Three St. Bede’s Youth will head to Camp Mikell (our diocesan camp near Toccoa, Georgia) this summer for fun, formation, and other life-changing adventures.

Our Youth will be supported by funds from the Ryan Hayn Memorial Scholarship Fund – a living memorial established by Ryan’s family to help support transformative experiences for the youth of our parish. Much of the need has been met for this year’s camp scholarships, but donations are always welcomed to help support other experiences such as summer camp scholarships, youth travel scholarships, youth service projects, and participation in Diocesan Youth programs such as New Beginnings and Happening. Gifts can be designated for “Ryan Hayn Scholarship Fund” or made through Realm.

Children's Formation

for Children Age 3 - Grade 5

Seasonal Changes to Children’s Formation

Children's Formation is on hiatus for the summer. We look forward to resuming after Labor Day. During the summer worship, children are welcomed to enjoy the prayground area with supervision.

We need additional teachers/helpers for this age group. Please contact Molly Graves at mgraves@stbedes.org to volunteer or for more information about our children’s faith formation program.

VBS a Success!

Thank you to everyone who attended or contributed to VBS this year!

We enjoyed delicious meals, engaging storytelling, creative crafts, spirited singing, and fun activities. Thanks especially to the youth who picked a song for each day and helped lead the singing. It truly was a wonderful week of celebrating "God Goes With Us" wherever we are.

We will continue collecting breakfast bars, small toys, and coloring supplies for Casa Alterna through Sunday, July 5. Please drop off your donations in the bin in the Commons. Casa Alterna has requested crunchy or chewy granola bars, NOT the "soft-baked" (like Nutrigrain). They will accept any kind, but the soft-baked ones don't transport as well.

Alyssa Sali

Ordination to the Priesthood

Many parishioners from St. Bede's gathered with others at the Cathedral on Saturday, June 20 at 2 pm to celebrate with the Church as Alyssa Sali was ordained a priest in Christ's One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. You may view the celebration video via the link below.

A Wonderful Celebration!

On Sunday, June 21, we gathered to celebrate and honor Chad on the 20th anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood.

This milestone was an opportunity for us to express our gratitude for Chad’s faithful spiritual leadership, dedication, and care for our parish community over the years.

Celebrating John Whitt's Ministry with Us

Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 26 for a celebration of John Whitt's ministry with us. We will worship together at 10 am and then celebrate afterwards with food and fond memories.

Amongst the ways that we will offer thanks to John for his long tenure and ministry with us is by collecting a "purse" or "love offering" in thanksgiving for John. You may contribute by designating a gift of cash or a check and placing it in the Sunday collection or dropping it off in the office. You may also make an online gift through Realm by clicking on the link below and choosing "John Whitt's Purse" from the fund list - now located below the amount field.

Please mark your calendars for July 26 to give thanks for John!

Let's Create a Book of Memories for John!

Dear Parish Family,

As we prepare to celebrate John Whitt's ministry and service at St. Bede's, we invite you to help us create a special Book of Memories in his honor.

If you have photographs, cards, letters, notes, or other memorabilia that reflect John's time at St. Bede's, we would be grateful if you would share them with us. These treasured memories will be compiled into a keepsake book that will be presented to John.

You may e-mail your submission to Laura at the email address below or drop off in the office where a box is located on the conference table. If you submit photographs, please include the date (or approximate date) whenever possible. Original photographs may be brought to the church for copying and will be returned to you, provided they can be reproduced clearly.

To allow sufficient time to assemble the book, please submit your items no later than July 15.

The Book of Memories will be presented at a catered luncheon honoring John on his final Sunday with us, July 26.

Thank you for helping us celebrate John and preserve the many memories we have shared with him over the years and look for more announcements in the weeks ahead about how we will celebrate John's ministry with us.

Popcorn Theology

Saturday, August 1, 2026

5:30 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.

"Rental Family"

Join us to share a simple meal that will include pizza, salad, fresh fruit, popcorn, and homemade cookies. There will be dairy free, gluten free and vegetarian options available. After dinner, we'll watch this 2025 film, rated PG-13, 110 minutes.

This is a clever, heartwarming and thoughtful comedy-drama set in modern Tokyo. Phillip ( Academy Award winning actor Brendan Fraser) is a lonely, loveably awkward American actor who is struggling to find purpose in his life. He lands an unusual acting gig with a Japanese agency to play stand-in roles for people who are strangers to him. As he immerses himself in his clients' lives, he begins to form genuine bonds with his clients, blurring the lines between a "performance" and reality. He begins to wake up to the moral complexities of his work, rediscovers his purpose in life, and finds and is found by belonging and the quiet beauty in human connection.

Following the movie, we'll have a brief conversation about where we saw and heard transformation, healing, God and Love in the movie, along with ways in which our lives connect with the story in the film. We'll end our time together with Night Prayer.

A $10.00 contribution is requested for the meal, or whatever amount works for you.

ART FROM THE HEART GALLERY NEWS

Our third "Art From the Heart Gallery" show has ended. Thank you to all who helped make it a success! Our next official show will be installed on August 13 and 14 and our Opening Reception will be held on August 15. Put that date on your calendars and plan to attend. Details will follow as we get closer to that date.

In the interim we are trying something new. We have invited the artists on the AFTH Gallery Committee, and a few others who helped with the organization and events, to display some of their work before our next show. Each of those artists will have their own space on the walls, and each work will have its own description placed beside it.  Contact information for the artists will be included and anyone wishing to purchase a piece can do so directly through the artist. The artist will be asked for the 20% commission for all sales. If a piece is purchased, the buyer can take it home immediately. This is an experiment and we will see how it goes!

Finding Healing

for Our Divided Country

Now meeting weekly

on Monday evenings on Zoom

from 6:30 to 8 pm.

In person every Thursday morning

9 to 10 am

at Mint Coffeehouse

3926 Lawrenceville Hwy in Tucker

A discussion group, grounded in prayer, for those who have questions, concerns, and emotions that feel too big, and need a safe place to process with others.

We will see what participants need from this group. Perhaps it will just be a place to express what you are feeling, or maybe some will want to know what action can be taken.

And we will pray together.

Some questions to consider:

How are you doing, and what are you feeling?

Where are you in terms of processing changing public policy?

How can we live the values of our faith

in the face of conflicting public policy?

New Digital Assisted Listening System

for St. Bede's Nave

Thanks to a a generous grant, we have upgraded our Nave sound system with a new digital assisted listening server. This digital server will stream the Nave audio directly to your smartphone and, from there, it can be delivered through wired headphones, Bluetooth devices, or, if you have smart phone enabled hearing aids, the audio can be streamed directly into the hearing aids. Our hope is that this system can improve speech intelligibility for any who have a difficult time hearing or understanding the spoken word in the Nave.

The FIRST STEP to use the new system is download the "ListenWIFI" app onto your smartphone by clicking on one of the links below. The app is free and does not require any type of registration or password (thank goodness!). The app will not work until you are at St. Bede's and connected to our Wi-Fi network.

The SECOND STEP is to arrive at St. Bede's and connect to the new "St. Bede's - Guest" Wi-Fi network which is an open network that requires no password (thank goodness, again!). The system will not work if you connect to the old "stbedes" password protected network.

Please let us know if you need help connecting!

St. Bede's Prayer List

A note about our prayer list:

We have reorganized our prayer list and are trying to make it more manageable going forward. Names will remain on the prayer list for 3 weeks unless otherwise requested. If you have placed someone on the prayer list and you would now like that person removed, please notify the office. Please request removal only for names which you have placed on the list. We are always happy to request prayer for our parishioners and our extended community.

Please contact Laura Pittman in the church office to add or remove names from the prayer list.
