From the home page of the website, scroll down to the colorful "Worship" icon, and click on that. Then scroll to the bottom of the "Worship" page and you will see where the bulletins for Sunday have been posted under "Downloads".

New Digital Assisted Listening System
for St. Bede's Nave
Thanks to a a generous grant, we have upgraded our Nave sound system with a new digital assisted listening server. This digital server will stream the Nave audio directly to your smartphone and, from there, it can be delivered through wired headphones, Bluetooth devices, or, if you have smart phone enabled hearing aids, the audio can be streamed directly into the hearing aids. Our hope is that this system can improve speech intelligibility for any who have a difficult time hearing or understanding the spoken word in the Nave.
The FIRST STEP to use the new system is download the "ListenWIFI" app onto your smartphone by clicking on one of the links below. The app is free and does not require any type of registration or password (thank goodness!). The app will not work until you are at St. Bede's and connected to our Wi-Fi network.
The SECOND STEP is to arrive at St. Bede's and connect to the new "St. Bede's - Guest" Wi-Fi network which is an open network that requires no password (thank goodness, again!). The system will not work if you connect to the old "stbedes" password protected network.

"CODA"
Popcorn Theology

5:30 p.m.—8:45 p.m.
Following a simple meal of pizza, a salad bar, fresh fruit and homemade cookies and popcorn (gluten free and dairy free options will be available), we’ll watch "CODA.” Ruby Rossi, a 17-year-old senior in high school living in Gloucester, Massachusetts, is a hard-working young woman who rises at 3 o’clock each morning to help her father and brother on their fishing boat before going to school. Ruby is the only hearing person in her family of 4. (CODA means, Child of Deaf Adults). Her father, mother and older brother rely on Ruby to serve as their translator at doctor's appointments and in negotiating the sale of the fish they catch.
At school, Ruby signs up to be in the chorus. She has never sung with a teacher or in a group, only at home where no one can hear her. She has no idea if she is "any good", she just knows she loves to sing. The teacher tells her she has a gift and encourages her singing, offering to coach her to apply to Berklee School of Music. Ruby finds herself torn between her obligations to her family and her blossoming gift as singer.

The film is the winner of 3 Academy Awards: for Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor (Tony Kotsur, who plays Ruby's father) and Best Film. “CODA” Stars Emilia Jones as Ruby and Marlee Matlin as her mother.
After watching the movie, we will have a brief conversation about where we saw and heard God in the movie, and the way in which the movie showed each of us something about our own lives. We’ll end the evening with a brief Night Prayer.

VBS Wrap Up!
Thank you to everyone who attended and/or contributed to VBS! We had a wonderful week celebrating God's love for us with delicious food, energizing fellowship, spirited singing, creative crafts, and engaging activities. We capped off the week remembering how Miriam celebrated with the people of God after fleeing Egypt by learning a couple of folk dances taught to us by Maciej Smusz, director of the Mazury Folk Dance Ensemble that practices at St. Bede's. And thanks to your generosity, we filled 40 bags for adults and 80 for children for Casa Alterna which contain breakfast bars and notes of encouragement for adults and toys and coloring supplies for children. These "Bags of Love" will be handed out by Casa Alterna volunteers to people waiting for Immigration Court hearings.

Prayer Vigil for Extra-Ordinary Times
Beginning July 6th and continuing through the summer, we’ll be holding a weekly, hour-long prayer vigil for the country, Sundays after 10 am worship, in room M108. Feel free to come by for a short time or for the entire hour.

An RSVP to Muriel for this in-person meeting is kindly requested.
A discussion group, grounded in prayer, for those who have questions, concerns, and emotions that feel too big, and need a safe place to process with others.
We will see what participants need from this group. Perhaps it will just be a place to express what you are feeling, or maybe some will want to know what action can be taken.
And we will pray together.
Some questions to consider:
How are you doing, and what are you feeling?
Where are you in terms of processing changing public policy?
How can we live the values of our faith
in the face of conflicting public policy?

| | St. Bede's new Art from the Heart Gallery celebrated the opening of its inaugural exhibition on Saturday, August 2 with many from the local arts community in attendance. The current exhibition features original works by artists associated with the Tucker Arts Alliance and will run through Thursday, October 2. Please enjoy the gallery when you are at St. Bede's for worship or for a class or a meeting. The gallery is open on Sundays and by appointment by calling the office (770.938.9797) during regular office hours. | |

Yoga and Prayer

Marie Hurley Blair and Lynnsay met each other in the halls of their dorm in college fifty years ago and have anjoyed an enduring friendship. The is the second time Marie and Lynnsay will have the gift of collaborating to offer a Quiet Day with a focus of slowing down, noticing our breath, resting with compassion in and for our bodies and resting in the Beloved.
When Marie's husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's twenty-two years ago, she continued to work as a librarian while beginning to receive training the the teaching of yoga, studying the mind-body connection and how breathing, meditation and gentle movement can ease pain and improve mood. A 500-hour registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, she continues to deepen her training in yoga for chronic pain, cancer, and overall aging. Mindful yoga - moving slowly into postures and noticing how the body and breath respond - is available to all bodies. "If you can breathe, you can do yoga," Marie assures newcomers.
Marie will lead a guided loving-kindness meditation and lead an hour-long yoga practice that may be enjoyed seated or on a mat or towel. Chairs will be available. Please bring your own mat or towel if you have one.
All bodies are welcome.

ONCE AGAIN: GAS CARDS NEEDED
This fall two small groups of individuals from St. Bede's are making trips to El Refugio and Stewart Detention Center on September 13th and October 4th. Stewart Detention Center is beyond their stated capacity with detained immigrants. The families of those detainees are traveling from many states to visit their loved ones at Stewart. St. Bede's has been donating $25.00 gas cards to the families that visit. It is a small but well appreciated gift of support and love to families that have been torn apart.
So far this year we have taken 106 $25.00 gas cards. El Refugio and all the families that spend the day or weekend there thank you for your generosity and compassion for others. Please put your gas cards (or money or checks) in the gas card box on the round table. If you opt to make a donation rather than supply a physical gas card, please indicate on your donation that the funds are to be used for gas cards.

School Supplies Collection A Success!
Many, many thanks to everyone who contributed to our back to school supplies collection for Networks Cooperative Ministry! We delivered an entire car filled with school supplies. Your generosity and love for others is inspiring! My heartfelt thanks to this amazing community of St. Bede’s!

ESOL Volunteer Opportunities
Many of you know that our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program has been going strong since January of 2013. We will be starting a new year on August 26th with some returning students and new ones as well.
ESOL classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and Wednesdays from 10:30 until Noon. If you have interest in learning more or participating in this amazing ministry, please talk to Orisha Parsons or Judah Sali. The estate sale at Claiborne Jones’ home will be 9am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24. If you find a treasure and would like 10% of your payment to go to St Bede’s, just mention Saint Bede’s at checkout. The sale is just down Midvale Road from St. Bede's (in the Empire Square subdivision) at 2700 Regency Dr, Tucker, 30084. Prices will be lower on Sunday. You can stop by before or after church that day.
All kinds of items will be posted a few days before the sale - just search online by the address.

Invitation to Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls are used to provide comfort, acknowledge joy or appreciation, say goodbye, or any other reason to share God’s love. They may be used in prayer, and the act of making them is prayer. Making them with friends is church.
Currently, a prayer shawl group meets one morning and one evening a month. You are invited to attend one or both meetings.

As violence escalates in Ukraine, over one million people have already fled the country — and the borders are flooded with many more people desperate to leave.
Almost all of them are women and children who have had to seek safety on their own, leaving their husbands, fathers, brothers and sons behind.
As this crisis continues to evolve, we are working with Anglican agencies and our other partners to provide humanitarian assistance, and urgently ask for your help.
Your emergency gift today will support our immediate response, providing cash, blankets, hygiene supplies and other needs as this crisis unfolds.
Our faith networks are currently on the ground in the border areas of Poland, Hungary and Romania, and we will continue to coordinate with them in order to help those who have been displaced. Specifically, our partner ACT Alliance is helping families on the Hungarian border, and our Anglican partners are mobilizing both an immediate and long-term response in Poland, Romania and Hungary.
